Children’s Books Are Forever With Us
Children’s books are not just a source of Entertainment; they play a crucial role in the development of young minds by fostering imagination, teaching moral values, and building foundational language skills. They are the first step in a lifelong journey of learning and discovery. Our experts in this area of the site, explore the essential elements that contribute to the greatness of a children’s book. From storylines to illustrations, and cultural impact to psychological influence, we will uncover what makes a book truly captivating for its young audience.
Children’s books should stimulate the imagination, encouraging kids to dream and explore fictional worlds. This not only entertains them but also helps develop creative thinking skills. Through books, children learn about cultures, environments, and historical events that they may not experience firsthand. This broadens their understanding of the world around them. A great children’s book teaches empathy and kindness through its characters and plot, showing children how to understand and care for others. Books are powerful tools in teaching children about diversity and inclusion. They introduce readers to different cultures, lifestyles, and perspectives, fostering a sense of global citizenship. Rhymes and rhythmic patterns make it easier for children to remember stories and develop an ear for language, which is crucial in the early stages of language development. And a well-crafted children’s book introduces new vocabulary in a context that makes it easy to understand and remember, aiding in language development and comprehension skills.
Encouraging children to read from an early age sets the foundation for lifelong learning and curiosity. Great children’s books not only entertain but also educate, inspire, and help young readers navigate the world. With grandparents reading to their grandchildren helping them discover the joy of storytelling and the magical world of imagination, isn’t this the Legacy we want to leave to this newest generation?

During our conversation we talk about bringing imaginative worlds to life and his brand-new book, "Dream Chasing: My 4 Decades of Success and Failure with Walt Disney Imagineering." We explor…

I'm doing something a bit different for Christmas Eve this year. Last year I read the traditional "Night Before Christmas" poem written by Clement Clarke Moore on December 23rd of 1823. The original poem remained anonymous until 1837 when it appeared in the New York Book of Poetry credited to Clement Clarke Moore - a wealthy Manhattan biblical scholar who lived from July 1779 to July 1863.This year I read a second version too - a version written by the nuns of Sisters of St. Thomas. Very little else is known about this version.
