Generation X and Baby Boomers

Generation X followed the Baby Boomers and precedes the millennial generation and were born between 1965 and 1980. Since Gen X has fewer members than the baby Boomer Generation and the Gen Z group, it is often considered the forgotten or overlooked period in our history when generations are discussed.

Members of Generation X, or Gen Xers, grew up in a time when there more dual-income families, single-parent households, and children of divorce than when baby boomers were growing up. Consequently, many of the Gen X children were latchkey kids, returning from school to an empty home while their baby boomer parents were still away at work. Generation X was the first generation to grow up with personal computers making this generation quite tech savvy. In this section of the site, our experts explore the difference between Gen X and Baby Boomers.
