Older and Wiser

It’s a widely accepted belief that as we grow older, we automatically become wiser. Wisdom isn’t just about intelligence or knowledge; it’s about applying what we’ve learned through experience, understanding human Emotions, and making sound judgments. Some older Baby Boomers seem incredibly wise, while others in our generation don’t necessarily display the deep insight we associate with wisdom. Our Experts in this area of the site talk about getting older and whether Aging guarantees wisdom.

Not all older people become wise. If we have a lack of self-reflection and don’t take the time to analyze our mistakes and successes, we won’t grow wiser. If we refuse to learn new things or consider different perspectives, we may not gain wisdom. If we fall into bad habits or cycles by repeating the same mistakes, we grow older but not wiser. So, as we grow older, we may think that aging provides opportunities to become smarter, but being old does not guarantee anything. At every age, we must be willing to learn, reflect and grow.
