Embracing the Joys of Travel: Endless Adventures for Baby Boomers
Maybe our love of travel was sparked early on by Ricky Nelson’s iconic song “Travelin’ Man” from the early 60s, or perhaps it was all those memorable family road trips we took as kids. Regardless, travel organizations like Expedia know that rather than slowing down, we Boomers are redefining the art of travel, seeking opportunities for discovery and Growth.
We Boomers are particularly drawn to ‘experiential travel,’ often focusing on unique and immersive experiences. Many of us are actively working on our bucket lists, opting for hands-on learning adventures like guided bicycle trips through Vienna and Prague, or opportunities to go ‘behind the scenes’ and engage in activities such as dining with locals, participating in archaeological digs, or even joining the crew on a four-masted schooner. As Simon and Garfunkel sang, “Sail on, silver girl!”
Even when travel presents challenges, our collective wanderlust remains strong. Whether it’s Group Travel, family travel, or Adventure Travel, we Boomers are all in! Explore our travel resources to find inspiration for your next great adventure, and embrace the endless possibilities that await.

To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. From the time I was 12 years old, I knew exactly what I wanted to do in life. What a pity that I was wrong. My ambition was to become a newspaper reporter in the footsteps of role models Mark Twain and Clark Kent. In single-minded pursuit of this goal, I worked on my school newspapers in junior high school, high school, and college. In high school I was a stringer for the local daily, earning the princely sum of 25-cents p…

With so many of us confined to limited movement during the coronavirus pandemic, I’ve been touching base (OK touching is a bad word) with colleagues, clients and close friends. The gist of the discussions have to do with “what do we do now?” An old title from my archives came to mind. I thought I’d dust it off and share. I hope this thought will be helpful to you as you figure out your “new normal.” Here it is from the vault. We all suffer the daily grind. Some days are better than others. For anyone in management or leadership, you need to take a pause to make some critical ass…

I graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Later, I received my kindergarten endorsement at the University of Texas at Austin. I married my husband John, a diplomat, and we moved to the Philippines. I thought 4th grade at the American International School in Manila, Philippines. I continued teaching when I returned to Texas with the birth of our first child. I enjoyed teaching for many years; no matter my grade, there was always story time. Our family grew to five, and reading and story-time were a part of the bedtime routine. Eventu…
