As we begin 2026 - and publish this special destination episode, we're taking you to one of the most remote and magical places we've ever traveled: Chiloé Island, located off the southern coast of Chile. “I am so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”— L. M. Montgomery A spectacular sunset in Encinitas, CA October has always been our month. It’s when we celebrate our wedding anniversary—on the 20th—and it’s the time of year that holds some of my favorite travel memories. Don’t you just love October? In the Northern Hemisphere, the leaves begin to change, pumpkin-spiced everything returns, and the cozy spirit of the season arrives. For me, it’s a time of reflection, celebration, and often… adventure. I’ve always believed in celebrating—new jobs, new homes, ne…

Life in Tuscany Today’s episode truly is something special—and not just because my guest has become a cherished friend of the show. Angela Correll is back for her third conversation on Travel Connections (yes, she officially holds the record!), and every time we talk, it feels like slipping into an easy, meaningful conversation over a cappuccino in a sunny piazza. Angela and her husband Jess have been traveling to Italy for more than 25 years, and recently, they restored a former horse stable within the medieval walls of Montefollonico, a tiny Tuscan hilltop village. Their love of this slo…

Have you given much thought to the idea of slow travel? I’ve been writing about travel for more than 12 years, and over the past five or so, I’ve watched this concept rise quietly but steadily—first as a whisper in the industry, now as a movement. Perhaps I was searching for it, or maybe it found me. Either way, I’ve fully embraced it. Pienza: Enjoy a guided tour and shopping at my favorite shops. So, what is slow travel? To me, it means approaching each destination with intention—moving at a gentler pace, staying longer, and letting experiences unfold naturally. It’s about connect…

Our Trip to Tuscany – The Florence Chapter Getting to Tuscany has become my favorite obsession. When I’m not there, I miss it like an old friend. No, I don’t dream of moving there permanently—but when life feels overwhelming, I find myself mentally wandering the quiet cobblestone streets of an authentic Italian village. There’s something magical about Tuscany. The views alone are enough to reset your soul. The pace of life slows down just enough to breathe deeply, enjoy your surroundings, and savor the beauty that exists far outside our everyday routines. This recent journey began in…
