From Green Beret to Author | Alex Dekker on Special Forces & the New Thriller DESERT HEIST

What does it take to serve nearly 20 years as a U.S. Army Green Beret in some of the world’s most dangerous environments—and then channel those experiences into writing a gripping novel?

About Alex Dekker

Alex Dekker served as a member of the U.S. Army Special Forces "Green Berets" for nearly 20 years with the 5th Special Forces Group and later the United States Army Special Operations Command. His career included multiple deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and numerous other locations around the globe. He completed advanced tactical and technical training throughout the U.S. Special Operations community, speaks Arabic, holds a Master’s in Applied Intelligence from Georgetown University, and has participated in archaeological excavations around the world.

Today, Alex is also an author, with his highly anticipated debut novel, DESERT HEIST, releasing soon. He lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, former CIA Operations Officer Savannah, their children, and their German Shepherd, Donovan.
