I loved the title! Today I interview Bren Maverick (pen name) about her memoir *The Dcks* I’ve Met Online, which uses humorous, candid stories to explore midlife reinvention, Relationships, and self-discovery. Bren describes feeling unseen and depleted in a long Marriage, a turning point after a breast reduction drew a hurtful reaction from her husband, and being given a “hall pass,” which led her to seek validation rather than commitment. She recounts the sheer volume of messages, the “meat market” nature of dating sites, and surprising encounters that revealed how many seemingly normal professionals carry hidden desires and sadness. Bren says the journey taught her she needed both sexual and emotional fulfillment, to stop “surviving,” prioritize her own happiness, speak desires aloud or write them down, find someone nonjudgmental to talk to, and use humor to cope; she and her ex later became good friends.
