3 Reasons I love being 60

I’m not suggesting that everyone’s experience of a certain age is identical, but I can speak to mine: 60 suits me just fine. (Español abajo)

My youth posed various challenges, especially with the limited understanding of mental health at the time.

In my late teens, a doctor prescribed speed to address my eating disorder, aiming for weight loss. 👀

Days would pass with minimal eating and hours spent working out, while my ability to focus and study intensely was heightened. But inevitably, a crash would follow, restarting the cycle.

In my twenties, I was prescribed numerous medications for anxiety and depression, including lithium salts at one point, without much success.

Despite the struggles, I still managed to achieve milestones like writing and publishing books, and exploring various interests.

Looking back, the younger version of myself seems like a distant character. It’s as if I’ve undergone a transformation into a stronger, more determined individual.

Yet, this transformation wasn’t a sudden rebirth; it’s been a journey of hard work and growth, one that I appreciate for the person I’ve become.

Sure, I’m aware of my age, and that there’s more life behind me than ahead. However what matters most to me isn’t the number of years, but the quality of those years.

So, yeah, being 60 feels right for me. How about you? How has your journey unfolded and shaped you over time?
