Rituals and Traditions

Why are we drawn to rituals and traditions? Why do we connect with drumming or the sound of chant and prayer?

Have you noticed that there are certain sounds and vibrations that bring you peace? Maybe Gregorian chant, maybe South American flute, Native American song, a whale’s call Why is this? Helping yourself move into this healing space is what modern science is trying to show us in recommending Meditation, breathwork, Yoga, nature, it all takes us back to our roots which is, the body’s desire to restore itself. And when we bring the body and mind together, healing is present. This email is inspired from my dear friend Petra and a recent article she shared.

The Power of Our Mind

Dr Joe Dispenza has been revolutionary in sharing neuroplasticity and how we can use the mind to reboot/rewire our brain and body. He shares meditation practices to align ourselves. He has tons of videos on YouTube if you want to take a peek. And when we change a thought, we change the emotion, which then changes our belief, which then adjusts our experience AND our body’s energy.

The Importance of Ceremony

What are your ceremonies/traditions? And why are they so important to you? Which are the ones that you are committed to caring forth?

Do you wear certain specific outfits, foods, music, celebrations, story telling, language, customs?

They make up who you are and where you came from. It is why some people continue in family and cultural traditions with deep respect and care. They allow us to hold to our ancestry since it is our past that has brought us into our present.

From morning prayer, Mass, to sound healing, ancient rituals create powerful psychological and physiological shifts. It takes us back to the heartbeat. Just like the young pup drifting off to Sleep when it nuzzles up to the ticking of an alarm clock. It takes us back to our earliest experience in becoming, and this is soothing, healing, and feels in some way, more secure, maybe even am experience of it being known.

“Studies show that repetitive movement, rhythmic sounds, and focused intention activate parts of the brain linked to healing, emotional regulation, and heightened awareness. These aren’t just traditions—they’re tools for real transformation.” – Petra

We can use these tools and practices to further our healing. Some methods might feel odd, others will feel calming, soothing, energizing. Give yourself the freedom to find which methods work for you. I love meditation, prayer, ocean sounds and wind. Others are drawn to flame, worship music, sign language, drumming, chanting, dance, mantra… Let your body guide you.

We know Stress and emotions are stored in our body. Helping ourselves free these changes our current experience of ourself and our way of being.

This embraces the Wisdom of our past and modern science, bringing them together, past and future.

I would love to hear how this speaks to you and what you are drawn to!
