This is my version of 60 and nobody will take it from me
Barring illnesses and disabilities – and even then – we have much control over how we age. This is my version of 60, here and now, and I won’t let anyone take that away!
I’ve exercised all my life, but I know women who started later and have seen remarkable changes in their mind, body, and spirit.
I’ve had countless injuries, as most active people do, and each one has taught me humility, patience, and faith in my recovery.
I’ve faced health challenges, including a close call with colon cancer, and I have a uterine biopsy scheduled next month – so I’m not immune. I rest when I need to and then keep going.
I’m fortunate to have an able body, but it’s up to me to keep it Moving.
I take care of myself – I eat reasonably well, sleep plenty, keep up with medical checkups, work out, walk, meditate, practice yoga, socialize, and do meaningful work.
Please take care of yourself too. Follow women older than you who embody the person you want to be at their age, and ignore the naysayers.
I’ve lost good friends to cancer who will never reach my age, and I’ll be darned if I’m going to let anyone dictate how I age.
