Casinos
The Casino Experience for Baby Boomers
Casinos and gambling have been part of human culture for centuries. From the ancient Chinese to the Romans, civilizations have always engaged in games of chance. Over time, these games became more organized, leading to the establishment of modern-day casinos. In the 17th century, the first official casino, Casino di Venezia, opened its doors in Italy, setting a precedent for the casino industry. This historical context shows that gambling isn’t a new phenomenon but one deeply ingrained in cultural traditions. One of the most significant contributions of casinos is their economic impact. Casinos create jobs, offering Employment in various sectors such as hospitality, Security, and Entertainment. They are also a substantial source of revenue for governments through taxes and licensing fees. In many areas, casinos have revitalized local economies by attracting tourists and stimulating surrounding businesses, including restaurants, hotels, and Retail shops.
Our experts in this section of the site will explore the good and bad of casino life. Whether you’re a fan of the age-old classics like Blackjack and Roulette or prefer the lights and sounds of slot machines, the allure of casinos to the Baby Boomer Generation has played a part in our pop culture in the films we grew up with like “Casino” or Ocean’s Eleven”, which have glorified the high-stakes world of gambling, painting casinos as glamourous yet dangerous places where fortunes can be made or lost in an instant. The addictive nature of gambling is a significant concern. Problem gambling can lead to financial ruin, family breakdowns, and other social issues like Depression, Anxiety, divorce, search for ethics and loss of Retirement funds.
Casinos play a multifaceted role in society, providing economic benefits, entertainment, and social engagement. However, it’s essential to recognize the ethical concerns that addiction to gambling can play on us, our family members and friends.

In brief, I am somewhat math-impaired.But I was curious about some rumblings online, questioning the conventional wisdom about how much retirees could safely spend down from their retirement savings annually. For years, that safe rate has been pegged at 4%. Was that number still a g…

And she always thinks about that casino, you know, she doesn’t gamble, but every time she hears that song, it goes back to that feeling like, oh yeah, it’s about the good time. It’s about, you know, gambling, right? So now we’re moving to association. So, the sound has a lot of association to, um, that, to that ‘expectation’ or the actual experience itself.” – Howard Lim This episode’s guest is …
