Stop using $13 bicycle helmets sold at Walmart, the CPSC advises
In addition to recalling products, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issues warnings about hazardous products. A recent warning from the agency is to immediately stop using black TureClos bicycle helmets.
The helmets don’t comply with federal safety standards, the CPSC said in a statement. The helmets can fail to protect riders if a crash occurs, posing a head injury risk.
The CPSC urges consumers to stop using the helmets, cut the straps off, and dispose of the helmets immediately.
The bicycle helmets were sold online at www.walmart.com from March 2022 through November 2022. The price was about $13.
The seller, Dongguanshisuyubgsgabgnaiyiuxiangongsi, of China, has refused to recall the helmets or offer a remedy to consumers. The agency is continuing to pursue a recall.
The helmets, sold in size large, are black and have blue accents, black and white stripes, black straps, and a red buckle. There’s no labeling inside the helmet and no outer markings. Â
The CPSC said it hasn’t tested red TureClos bicycle helmets also being sold online.
Warning like this are another reason to get on the mailing list for CPSC recalls and safety alerts.
