Guardian

Guardians at Our Age

A guardian is someone who watches over, or protects a person, place, tradition or value, such as the historic society who serves as the guardian of the town’s traditions. Plato refers to the guardian who maintains justice and harmony using Wisdom to discern what is good, courage to defend the good, temperance which retrains personal desires and justice to make sure each part of society functions properly. Our Experts in this area of the site explore many of these different definitions of how we as Baby Boomers are the guardians for so much more than ourselves.

The guardian in today’s world is a steward of justice holding something in trust for the sake of others. Some of us become a legal guardian taking on the role of caretaker for another individual which could be a minor or someone unable to care for themselves. Others of us safeguard an institution, the environment, traditions or moral standards. But in reality, we are all guardians of our families who pass on knowledge to influence future generations.
