Have you ever found yourself in a state of inaction, where you know you should be doing something but can’t seem to get yourself moving? Maybe you’re not sure what you want to do next, or you’re afraid of failure, or you’re experiencing Grief or loss. Whatever the reason, being stuck in a state of inaction can be frustrating and demotivating.

In this KAJ Masterclass Live video, coach and consultant Lauren St George shares her insights on how to motivate yourself out of inaction. She explains that inaction and laziness are different things, and that inaction often stems from our brain’s desire to seek comfort and avoid change. When we have an idea of what we want to do next, our brain’s fight or flight response can kick in, causing us to doubt ourselves and our abilities.

Lauren also notes that major life events, such as divorce, grief, empty nesting, or Retirement, can trigger a need for change. While it’s natural to experience a period of inaction during these times, it’s important to work through the grief and come out the other side, ready to look towards the future.

So how can we motivate ourselves out of inaction? Lauren suggests having a goal in mind, as well as a plan for how to achieve that goal. Breaking down the goal into smaller, more manageable steps can help make it feel less daunting. She also advises seeking out a support system, whether that be a coach, therapist, or trusted friend or family member.

Lauren’s program, What’s Next, helps people figure out their best next chapter in life. She explains that intervention from someone like her may be necessary once someone has had time to work through their grief or difficult time and is ready to focus on the future.

In conclusion, if you find yourself in a state of inaction, know that it’s natural but not permanent. By having a goal, making a plan, and seeking support, you can motivate yourself out of inaction and towards a fulfilling future.
