Understanding Pancreatic Cancer

As Baby Boomers are Aging, it is essential to stay informed about Health risks like pancreatic Cancer. This often-silent disease can be difficult to detect in its early stages, making awareness and regular check-ups critical. Pancreatic cancer originates in the pancreas, a vital organ responsible for hormone and digestive enzyme production. It is a gland behind the stomach that helps with digestion and blood sugar regulation. Unfortunately, it’s a disease that tends to disproportionately affect older adults and our Experts in this area of the site talk about pancreatic cancer.

An estimated 67,440 new cases will occur this year. Of these 51,980 are expected to die from pancreatic cancer. The five year survival rate is 13%. The lifetime risk of developing pancreatic cancer is 1 in 56 for men and 1 in 60 for women. The median age at diagnosis is 70 years old.
