I worked for myself for over 4 decades and I’m still going
Before launching my website, @VivaFifty, 11 years ago, I was already a seasoned writer, author, blogger, translator, and editor—essentially, someone whose work always revolved around words. For over four decades, I’ve worked diligently as a freelancer or contractor, building a career on my terms.
That dedication shaped the work ethic I bring to managing my online presence as a business. Whether you call it a communications business, a publishing business, or something else, the fact is, I approach my work with intention and professionalism.
Although my work spans national and international collaborations, being recognized locally felt wonderful. It was also a delight to meet other incredible individuals (mostly women, as someone pointed out) over 45 doing amazing things right here in Sarasota, Florida, where I live.
Here’s to all the movers and shakers, the visionaries, and the people who do things not just to make a buck but because they believe in making a difference. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. Thank you @sarasotamagazine and @dreamlarge for a fabulous event.
