Daily Looks: Week Ending 3.15.24
I had a moment where I went off on a soapbox. It’s because I struck a chord with a confession in last Saturday’s email that many other women could relate to.
My husband always says I’m swimming upstream, but I TRULY believe our bodies are to be loved no matter our age, size, or color.
I think you would enjoy it if you signed up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Saturday
This is a multipurpose outfit. During the day, I can pull off the belt, boots, and cardigan to paint some things in the new house. Then I will put those things back on to head to church tonight.
I’ve found that faux leather is a great material for “paint pants.” The paint comes off easily, and then I don’t have to wreck any other items.
Now the graphic t-shirt is holiday-related, but I figured it would be fine.
I bought this cardigan from my friend because she felt like she was in the marching band when she wore it. However, I think it’s super cool. I did have to tack up the wrist hems so they didn’t flop around.
The metal belt may scream 80s but I’ve never been afraid of the 80s. That was my decade of style and fun!!
Then these booties. I found them at a boutique for $5…unworn. It is the yarn around the ankle that made me buy them. Yet I hardly ever wear them. Today, they completed the look so I’m glad I’ve been moving them around from house to house.
Sunday
We are off to a free Pilates workout today at a local mall thus the athleisure outfit. When we come home, we have a ton of home projects to work on, so this will be perfect for the entire day.
First off, I have to tell you that you NEED these leggings. The brand only has the Capri length and shorts available right now, but they are incredible. High-waisted which is nice for working out. Pockets for my phone. AND super soft. Oh, and did I mention they are under $20?
This rust micro top is a great example of how Nike has some unique and fun things occasionally. I tend to get them when they are on final sale, so I can’t link to one just like this.
The sports bra and sneakers were both preloved.
Showing off my midriff. I would have NEVER done this years ago. No matter what my size was, I didn’t think it was appropriate. But I’m learning that most of our perceptions about our bodies and appropriateness are hogwash.
I see many older and different-sized women wearing items that show off parts of their bodies that aren’t “perfect’.
Gosh, I applaud them. And I’m working hard to love my body as is. Many of you will say, “You can wear that because you’re thin”, but I don’t believe that should be the factor. Bodies are wonderful and showing parts of them that are crepey or dimpled is not a crime.
Soapbox done.
Monday
I really love this skirt from Your Revolving Closet and may have to pay the $18 to keep it. Can you believe I wore it as a top too?? You may think it’s silly to play around with my clothes that way, but why not? Life is too short to only wear a skirt one way.
This denim jacket was a recent find at a thrift store going out of business. I just love the lighter blue coloring of it. I was too lazy to iron the pockets flaps down so I used my Maggie’s Snaps instead.
This rust and turquoiseish blue color just tickles my fancy lately.
Any ideas of what other colors I should wear with this skirt?? Maybe I’ll try green next.
White sneakers seem so classic, and this is my pair of Cariuma sneakers. I got these in my normal size, but I sized up a half-size in my yellow and my green pairs, and for my foot, the half-size bigger seems more comfy.
Tuesday
I had to pull out some green items since St Pat’s is right around the corner. These faux leather shorts were such a great find when we styled each other from the thrift store last year. They don’t have a size in them, and I know they are too big because they hang down a bit, but I like that they cover my leg more.
Then I figured I should wear my hand-knitted sweaters more, so this one is from over 15 years ago. I always consider it “dressy” with the sparkle yarn in the middle of the bow, but I’m trying not to categorize my clothes that way.
Oh, and I’m wearing one of my Halftees under the sweater. I always like a shirt under my sweaters, so I don’t have to wash my sweaters as often.
The advantage to Halftees is they stop right under your bra so you don’t have the bulk or heat of a normal tee.
Insider discount: You get 20% off with code Jtouch20 on ANY Halftees.
The snakeskin OTK boots are a favorite of mine, but with the heels they have, I only wear them for non-walking days. Today I am going to a dental check-up with my mom and then Rob and I are seeing a Celtic band at a local library. So I’ll be on my butt most of the day.
The top photo shows how my earrings sparkle the same pink as my sequin yarn. The earrings are from a wonderful designer named Pam Neri.
Wednesday
More green for St Paddy’s week. This is one of those dresses you see hanging up and think it’s for cooler temps since it’s longer and has sleeves. But you’d be wrong, haha.
Even though I wore it in winter in the past, it’s much better suited for spring or fall.
Truthfully I wanted to wear a longer kimono over the dress but I struggle with long toppers over long dresses. I’ll have to work on that and figure out the secret.
Instead, I grabbed this cropped faux fur vest my mom made for me years ago. I wore it with a polka-dot blouse back in 2015.
These boots are also old. They were originally only 2 colors, so I used shoe polish to add the darker color to them.
Then my “bling pin” and earrings are from my friend’s Etsy shop. However, at this time she only has the scarf pin. Scarf pin you say? Yes, I’m wearing the scarf pin as a brooch as I put an earring through it. I could have also used my magnets.
The last fun detail is this “bow” in my hair. It’s a scarf that my mom made from leftover material. My mom wore the top back in 2018 (and look at that expression on her face in the first photo…haha).
Thursday
Tai Chi class today, so my favorite kind of outfit is leggings, a T-shirt, and a long sweater. You don’t break a sweat in our Tai Chi, it’s more about movement.
This cardigan always makes me smile with the colors and then I wore bright pink sneakers for more color.
It’s basically a column of color under the cardigan, in black no less.
I did add a pair of statement earrings from a local designer named Rad & Rae.
Friday
I chose these pants in my clothing rental service because how many faux leather pants do I need to actually own? But all of the ones I own are very fitted. So I wanted to try out this looser style. The style reminds me of the Barrel Jeans that I shared in my email this week.
It’s dog training day, so leather pants are perfect because dog hair doesn’t stick to them!!
I pulled out this fabulous cardigan that I’ve had for over 6 years but hardly wear. It has sequins among the embroidery and is just beautiful.
BTW, I tucked it in and then pulled it out somewhat because the length was awkward with these pants.
A green silky blouse (one that you might think is dressy) along with green sneakers give a nod to St. Pat’s Day celebrations.
And my faux ponytail which is so convenient for bad hair days.
Thank you
