Daily Looks: Week Ending 1.26.24
I was very happy with the variety in my daily outfits this week. Dresses, skirts, pants, and even shorts were part of the equation. And quite a wide variety of color combinations too. Which are your favorites?
I think you would enjoy it if you signed up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Saturday
I was inspired to copy a look from my blogging friend, Ashley. I’ll share all of the details soon in a blog post, but here’s the abbreviated version.
I “borrowed” one of Rob’s blazers along with my oversized white shirt.
The denim skirt was one that I DIYed by adding more jean material to a mini skirt.
Then I layered some brown boots with tights and accessorized with a brooch and colorful glasses.
Other times the clothing was worn:
White shirt when talking about ways to wear an oversized shirt and not look frumpy.
Skirt from how to wear a denim skirt for women over 50 in all different lengths.
I’m not sure I’ve worn the boots before. I bought them to replace a pair that I had for 18 years that had dried out.
Sunday-My Mom’s Birthday
We are taking my mom to a movie today for her birthday and considering she was always pushing me to wear a dress when I was a kid, I thought I would for today, LOL. (Seriously, there were temper tantrums about what she wanted me to wear vs what I wanted to wear back in the day).
Today, I wanted to try a color combination that isn’t seen much. Rust and pink. What do you think?? I just love how it came together. Of course, one thing that helps is both of these items are warm. There are cool rusts and pinks. And that could make a difference.
The tights are reversible (the other side is black) and what you don’t see is there is this subtle flower pattern on them.
I love the leopard boots because they are shorter than tall boots but higher than ankle boots.
I combined 2 necklaces and that white blob on the right side is a clip-on earring holding them together. I put a video together for this trick.
Other times I’ve worn these:
Dress–Worn on our Europe cruise-BTW, it’s on sale
Cardigan–Talking about how to wear a long cardigan
Clip-on earrings and other ways to use them
Monday
Today is a dog training day, so I thought it would be a perfect time to wear jeans and a puffer vest.
Confession. Both the jeans and vest are brand new. We happened to be at DSW dropping off shoes for donation and we had time before our next event, so we stopped into Old Navy next door. UGH. They were having a huge sale. These jeans? I got them for $4.
The vest comes in multiple colors and is about the same price on the website. I couldn’t pass it up since I’ve been having a love affair with lime green.
This lime green top is one I’m still renting from Your Revolving Closet. You can keep things as long as you like and I think this color goes with so much. One thing I did differently with it this time was to use magnets at the back of the neck to make it a turtleneck. As you can see when I wore it Sunday and Monday in this Daily Post article, it’s more of a cowl neck.
I added a bright pink magnet pin in front to break up the two-color scheme and wore one of Rob’s fedoras since my hair was curling uncontrollably due to our rainy days.
Tuesday
What you didn’t see yesterday is that I wore these black fishnet hose under the distressed jeans. They weren’t really dirty, so I decided to wear them again today.
Insider tip: I put on a pair of ankle socks BEFORE the fishnets if I’m wearing boots or sneakers so my toes don’t go through the holes.
Gail reminded me of this fabulous color combination which is one of my favorites, so I decided to use it for today’s look.
The bright pink sweater has been worn for New Year in the past with black sequin shorts. Today I wore it with a black faux leather skirt that I shortened a tad.
And who knew that I would love these black combat boots so much? I think they make the outfit look less traditional.
It did seem too plain for me, so I added this scarf clip (found on Etsy) on the waistband for decoration since all of my scarves are packed away, LOL.
Wednesday
Over the weekend we straggled into Old Navy and tons of their items were $4. So I bought these track pants. They are the same ones I have in olive green that I wore on our cruise this fall, and they fit so great. They are still online in limited sizes for under $20 (but not $4). So if you have a chance, run over to Old Navy in person.
I layered my green sweater over a sleeveless collared shirt and then added my yellow leather jacket for spring vibes.
Lately, I adore using my clip-on earrings as decoration since many of my necklaces are packed away.
And then I wore my metallic ankle booties to give some shine to the outfit.
Items worn before:
Blouse: Print mixing for beginners.
Green sweater: Nancy wore it for our “Elf” post but thought it was too tight.
Yellow jacket: Maybe I’ve never worn it in a blog post, but I’ve had it for over 5 years and it’s in this video on colors that go with cranberry.
Thursday
I won this blazer from an Instagram giveaway and thought it would be the perfect topper for my Tai Chi outfit so I could run errands after class and still look intentional.
In fact, I’m not wearing tights. Those are leggings. What’s the difference, really?
I could have added a skirt instead of shorts, but I just found these shorts at Old Navy in their $4 pile, and I like the longer shorts, especially in winter with boots.
Then I print mixed with the jacket and shirt underneath. And these silver booties have been a crowd favorite ever since I bought them off the Just Be Youtiful website. For the price, PLUS my discount with code Jtouch15, makes them a steal. And they come in white or gold too.
I sized up a half size which works great for wearing socks with them.
Friday
My goal was to finish wearing all of the items I found at Old Navy last weekend. The yellow cardigan sweater found its way into my cart because I loved the color. It was also under $10. But it only came in XL. So I decided that would work so I could have a yellow, oversized cardigan.
That’s one reason, I like to ignore the sizing on items.
I wore the cardigan over a sleeveless denim dress but under a long vest. Can you see the gold beads on the vest? Those are magnets keeping the cardigan panels hidden under the vest. I thought it looked cleaner that way.
Magnets found on Amazon. Right now only the bigger ones are available (so be glad if you snatched up the Glamour ones when I first talked about them).
These items were worn in the past:
Dress: Styled with turquoise jewelry
Vest: With leggings and sneakers
Boots: Paired with my grandma’s lace dress
