Unusual Ways For How To Wear A Silk Skirt
It might seem obvious for how to wear a silk skirt, yet when you remember that it is just a piece of circular material with a hole at both ends, you might be able to imagine that it can be worn in creative ways.
Quote of the day: “Many people won’t attempt something unless they can find an example of someone else who is already doing it. Rely on this type of thinking too much and you’ll never do anything interesting.
Your path through life is unique. It is important to extract lessons from the experiences of others, but you can’t wait for a perfect example to take action. You are the example.” James Clear
You may think it’s silly to take a skirt and transform it into other clothing items. Yet in reality, this makes your closet much larger without buying anything new.
This is better for your wallet and better for the environment. Plus, just the fact that you’ve gotten creative with how to wear a silk skirt builds new pathways in your brain which is good for your overall health.
Be like Nike, and just do it.
One of my superpowers is being the boss of my clothes which translates to getting creative with items. I’ve done this multiple times on my site and invite you to check out some other ideas.

Why a Silk Skirt?
One reason this idea of coming up with unusual ways for how to style a silk skirt works so well is because of the drape.
Drape.
How it hangs.
For example, I have become creative with a wool skirt in this video, but you can see that it’s not as flexible. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try it/wear it/have fun with other materials, I’m just saying that a silky version might be better for your first attempt.
Because of these ways, I can get creative with how to wear a silk skirt, I have collected a few of them in my closet.
And while I didn’t need to showcase them all, I did want to prove that not only can you wear your silk skirt dressed up in summer, it can also work in the winter with boots and a sweater as well as worn casually with a t-shirt, denim jacket, and sneakers.

How to Wear a Silk Skirt as a Dress
This works depending on a couple of factors:
1-Length. If your silk skirt is as short as a skirt, then it may not be feasible to wear it as a dress this way. But never fear. I have ideas.
If it’s too short, then think about wearing it as a strapless top.
If you don’t like strapless, then wear a bralette (like I did) or even a t-shirt (a Halftee would be ideal so you don’t have extra bulk around the midriff).
OR consider wearing a dress extender under it (which could be an old slip in your wardrobe).
Heck, if that’s an option, then why not layer your silk skirt over another skirt or dress?
2-Shape. A form-fitting skirt can make it hard to walk when you hike it up to be a dress.
That’s when a slit or flared skirt can make all of the difference.
Transform your Skirt to be a Top
In this example, I took my elasticized waist silk skirt and put both my head and one arm through it to create a one-sleeve top.
Again this works better depending on certain factors:
1-Waistband. Elasticized can be easier as long as there is enough stretch that doesn’t irritate your neck.
But don’t give up if there’s a zipper. this may enable you to have more room to pull over your head.
Just tuck under the exposed zipper sides and if they won’t stay, use magnets to hold the material in place.
2-Create fit. You can certainly just leave it hanging to make it look almost like a poncho.
But there are ways you can tuck, fold, or fasten (use those same magnets) the extra material so it’s not so overpowering.
Presto Chango—It’s a Scarf
What is a scarf? It’s functionally a piece of fabric you can fold and style in a multitude of ways. So the idea of how to wear a silk scarf would work easily as a scarf.
Just bunch up all the material around the waistband and pull it over your head like I did with my peach silk skirt above.
I knotted the extra material but another option would be to use a scarf clip.
