Daily Looks: Week Ending 7.14.23
I know everyone is discussing how hot it is outside, so I won’t go there. But if you need ideas of how to dress in this heat, you’ve come to the right place. I had a thing with kimonos at the start of the week and then graduated to vests.
The other theme was flowy skirts. I seem to have missed wearing any summer pants, so that will be on my radar for next week.
Saturday
I had a massage today, so I wanted something easy and lightweight to wear. I’ve worn this dress as a duster before over a skirt and top.
The kimono was a fun way to add print mixing and was needed for the inside of Hand & Stone. This kimono is still available on Just Be Youtiful’s online site. Use code Jtouch15. The material is not that slick polyester, it’s more of a woven cotton. And it comes in 2 other colorways.
These sandals were the inspiration behind figuring out how to make my buckle ankle straps convert into velcro. It’s been one of my favorite DIY ideas and I shared a blog article about it as well as a YouTube video. Heck, I even figured out how to fix it if you do it incorrectly.
A fun, baseball cap finished off the look since I knew it would be a mess after my massage.
Sunday
I have to admit that I feel VERY sexy in this dress. There are cutouts in the front and on the sides, yet I don’t think it’s overly va va voomish.
Because of the placement of the cutouts in the front, I wore my body tape as two vertical strips over each girl. Body tape and my strapless/backless bra (as discussed in this article) are the hardest working items in my closet this summer.
We were going to the movies today, so I included this kimono found at Chico’s recently. It was a steal at $20, but if you are looking for a fabulous deal on a kimono, check out the one from LOFT that is under $10.
To make the dress more casual, I wore my Cariuma white canvas sneakers (with my Sheec no-show socks).
Monday
My husband called this my “Miami Look” and I’m here for it. I bought this T-shirt dress 2 years ago (yet it’s still available here) because I was looking for a T-shirt dress that had more shape to it. BTW, this dress comes in 32 other colors, and I would say it’s good quality. It is 2 layers so it’s not see-through and I would say it’s TTS.
Notice that it’s not as short on me as the model. I’m 5’2″.
I’m such a sucker for a topper, so I figured now was the perfect time to pull out this secondhand vest (of course it’s secondhand…did you see the brand name? LOL)
Then I laughed because these sandals seemed to match perfectly, so I had to wear them too. Even I love matchy matchy occasionally.
BTW, I’m not sure I would have bought these sandals, but because I got to choose a pair since I won an Instagram giveaway I thought they would be fun. The thing is that I have worn them more than I thought. Maybe it’s a learning lesson. Buy the fun shoes.
The earrings are actually clear, but they reflect the color of the dress, and even the glasses are a light greenish color.
Tuesday
Even though I gravitate towards brights and colors, I enjoy a neutral outfit from time to time. Of course, I added in a bit of color with my accessories and shoes.
The skirt was a great find when my husband and I did the blind thrifting challenge (you can see the video here). It’s one of those skirts that is perfect for our hot weather.
I love this kind of t-shirt that has a bit of personality with the heart which was found at Just Be Youtiful last year. She doesn’t still have it in stock, but she may have something just as wonderful. Check out her FB page and tell her I sent you (and use code JTouch15)
I wore colorful jewelry and shoes as well as a headband because it was humid today (relatively speaking for what we are used to, haha)
Wednesday
I vacillated about wearing the vest and top with other shorts, but I was inspired by one of my book club friends wearing a short suit, so I decided to keep them together for the day. The set has been worn alone without any t-shirt under it on Wednesday of this Daily Outfit post. (very limited sizes remaining of the vest, but still a selection of the shorts and in other colors too.)
I’ve had this t-shirt for over 8 years and I love how the decoration on the front is 3-D.
The reason I added the multicolor shoes and earrings as I was dying to carry the new-to-me straw purse (not pictured) that I bought off my friend’s Poshmark site and it’s a variety of colors.
I only added the hat because I wanted a hip vibe.
Thursday
Thank you to everyone that voted in my email about which eShakti dress to purchase. This halter style slip dress definitely received the most votes and it’s just perfect for our 100+ degree days.
I wore it with my body tape for a bra. I could have easily worn my Gatherall bra also. Yet I don’t think it would work with a traditional strapless because the armholes are a tad low for that. Granted, you could alter the armholes.
It’s hard to see, but there are pockets in this dress. Yippee!!
Insider discount: Remember, with my link, your first purchase on eShakti is $50 off. The minimum charge is $25, but that’s an amazing deal for anything customized like their items are.
I wore my metallic Walking Cradles sandals called “Nella” which are still available as well as gold and silver accessories.
Friday
I have a hard time liking how I look without bangs. But I’m practicing what I preach by trying to get used to it. Adding the flower on top was an idea from Monday’s upcoming post that you’ll see soon.
The skirt was a $2 thrifted find, and it’s perfect for the hot temperatures.
I received this bodysuit in a mystery box that I won last year and I wasn’t a fan at first. Until I saw the obvious hack of just snapping it to the side of your body instead of under your crotch. Talk about one of those “aha” moments.
You still get the advantage of a sleek look but not the bathroom inconvenience.
These sandals are like wearing slippers (with a little heel). They are the brand Vivaia which we reviewed here and are meant to be sustainable because they are made from recycled water bottles. I have heard some pushback that it’s not really sustainable so I will try to learn more.
Another confession is that I’m not used to showing this much cleavage. Yet cleavage isn’t a bad thing and it’s not like I’m being overly exposed, right?
Insider motto: You don’t change your way of thinking by continuing to do the same things over and over.
Thank you
