Daily Looks: Week Ending 1.5.2024

It seems like I had a love affair with skirts this week, LOL. Since I noticed that when I added in Thursday’s outfit, I decided to wear jeans on Friday. I know many women complain that it’s hard to stay warm in skirts in the winter, but tall boots and fleece tights are key!

I think you would enjoy it if you signed up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.

Saturday

Skirt: Free People~~Jacket: BlankNYC Nordstrom~~Boots: Macys

I love the idea of wearing mini skirts (and shorts) with OTK boots. This red plaid skirt has been showcased in the past as part of my color recipe. As part of that recipe, I’d call this option the “light neutral”.

The llama sweater has been worn when I talked about minimizing a large bust. And the jacket is not new either. I wore it when channeling my inner Helen Mirren.

Even the boots are from a couple of years back. I really enjoy shopping in my closet since I buy the things I love. Exactly why I need a bigger closet, haha.

I’m still wearing my faux fur earrings and will until spring. Not only are they cute, but they even keep my earlobes warm. My exact pair is sold out, but there are many similar ones like these.

New Year’s Eve

Skirt: Cat & Jack-Goodwill~~”Top“: Lulus-thrifted~~Boots: Journee Collection “Meg“-pr item

This “top” is actually a sequin dress that I thrifted before our Caribbean cruise and wore for our NYE dinner on the ship. I shared the photo from that event in my email.

I had a bunch of options for skirts to layer over it for the festive day (even though we didn’t go to any parties, we did go to lunch). But I chose this navy tulle skirt.

To stay warm, I wore my fleece tights. Yes, these are sheer black tights that have fleece inside them. My pair is one size fits most but there are a ton of options if you like to stay warm.

I’ve been very impressed with the Journee Collection footwear I’ve tried, and this pair of boots is no exception. It’s wonderful how they have such a wide selection of calf sizes (this is the standard, but they come in wide and extra wide).

I didn’t originally have my faux fur wristlets on until I was chilly since these sleeves are 3/4 length. But I adore these wrist cuffs for their cuteness and functionality for keeping warm.

Monday

Jeans: Dear John~~Cardigan: Gap-Goodwill~~Boots: Kelly & Katie-DSW

Today is dog training day where we go out and about and try to work on Piper with distractions. That’s why the beanie, layers, and boots.

I now have a combat boots addiction. In my defense, my DSW birthday rewards expired yesterday, so we had to go check out their sale selection. And these are super lightweight and comfy and ended up being under $30.

The cords are old and basically skinny jeans, so I think the modern boots give a more contemporary vibe. I cuffed up the hems instead of tucking them into the boots.

The cardigan was a $2 find at Goodwill this fall and I like the combination of the preppiness with the edgy combat boots.

My beanie is one I recently knitted with some leftover yarn from a sweater I had knit for my mother ages ago with yarn she brought back from one of her trips.

Tuesday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 1.5.2024 &Raquo; Tues
Shorts: Goodwill~~Cardigan: no label~~Boots: DSW

I love the idea of wearing shorts in winter with tights and tall boots. I found the leather shorts at Goodwill and have worn them many times this way.

The outfit started with these boots that I found at DSW just this week when I had to use my birthday rewards. They were a steal at under $30 and I thought the color was so interesting, and one you don’t see often with boots. They are a higher heel than I normally wear for every day, but luckily they are comfy so I can wear them for date nights and events.

Because it’s a cold week in Arizona this week, I layered 2 sweaters for the day. The solid-colored magenta one is from my friend, Cathie, for my birthday. And I love how it goes fabulously with the cardigan and blouse.

This blouse is super old having been shown on the blog when it was my mother’s. Funny thing how you can see in that post, my love for shorts and tall boots in the winter. At least I’m consistent.

Wednesday

Skirt: from Just Be Youtiful~~Cardigan: FDJ-won in giveaway~~Boots: Journee Collection “Maebry” pr item

What could be more yin/yang than a tulle skirt and combat boots? Our Sun City fitness group had a holiday party today, so I thought it was high time to wear this lilac tulle skirt.

I paired it with my newest Chico’s top which is on sale for only $30 now. If it were warmer out, I’d forgo the cardigan, but I’ll take it just in case.

I love the colorful plaid on the cardigan and even though it’s long and flowy, I think it works with the long, flowy skirt.

As usual, my off-white combat boots made an appearance, because I feel like they go with everything, and are so comfortable.

I used the title photo to showcase the earrings from today. They are made by these 2 sisters who sell a variety of handmade/painted earrings off of Instagram under the handle Lil Shop of Ours.

Skirt: Hyfve-Your Revolving Closet~~Sweater: Skies are Blue-Your Revolving Closet~~Boots: G By Guess

I’m SUPER EXCITED to start using Your Revolving Closet which is a rental clothing subscription. I honestly think everyone should try out the first month’s free offer for so many reasons. I plan to write an article about it with all of the advantages, and disadvantages. But already I’ve read posts from 2 women that I don’t know on Facebook who it would be perfect for. They were 1-wanting to incorporate different styles into her outfits this year and 2-someone who has lost weight but doesn’t want to buy a lot of clothes yet until she’s maintaining her weight.

This skirt and cardigan are both from Your Revolving Closet. Then I’m wearing black fleece leggings with my tall black boots.

My sweater under the cardigan is the ribbed cotton/cashmere sweater from Mott & Bow which is super soft and perfect for our weather.

Since I wanted to add the scarf to my faux ponytail, I went without a necklace.

Friday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 1.5.2024 &Raquo; Friday
Jeans: Banana Republic ~~Jacket: Steve Madden- Your Revolving Closet~~Sneakers: Jambu c/o

I fell in love with this jacket when I saw it on the Your Revolving Closet site. It reminds me of the Pucci-style print top my mom made years ago and the three of us all wore.

I wore it with a lime green sweater under it (that has been showcased with red before).

The jeans are my first pair of distressed jeans, but I got so much slack about them, that I filled in the holes with grey lace. I wore them on our Alaska cruise years ago.

I’d like to point out that I’ve had this belt for over 20 years. Belts can be timeless as long as they aren’t falling apart.

And these black sneakers have been a wonderful surprise to my closet from working with Jambu. When I first picked them out, I wasn’t sure how much I’d wear them, but they are super comfy, and I love them to ground an outfit.

Thank you
