Rekindling Your Inner Fire

‘Even if one person fell in love with life again, a river of change would begin to flow.

Even if just one person chose to live in heart-centered ways, a powerful momentum would be set in motion for creating a heart-centered world.

~ from Spirit of Chocolate: A Woman’s Journey to the Rainforest in Search of Her Dreams

I love the Solstice season, the wisdoms and unknowns living inside the dance of changing cycles. Rich possibilities thrive in transitional spaces between what exists, what’s dying away, and who and what is becoming.

Whoever you are ~ sea urchin, pine tree, polar bear, luna moth or human ~ and wherever you are on the planet, the shifting seasons on our earth are a unifying thread.

Two Solstices and two Equinoxes occur during each full circle in our earth’s dance around our sun. These transitional markers create a cyclical foundation for life on this planet. In diverse human cultures through countless generations, we have purposefully designed structures, symbols, and ceremonial sites to mark Solstice.

What is so essential and compelling about these transitional times in the seasons of our earth?

If anyone knows how to live fully engaged with cycles of death and birth, with beginnings and endings and in-betweens, with weaving Relationships among wildly diverse and unique beings ~ that would be our mother earth.

As humans, when we stay rooted in our connection with the earth’s shifting seasons and the always-in-motion passages of change, we learn how to shift our ways of living to be in balance with the rivers of change. Recognizing and honoring, even grieving, transitions and change will generate a very different effect than judging, ignoring, and fighting against.

We’ll see how we are being shaped by and shaping the shifting landscapes inside us and all around. Season by season, we’ll gather up lived experiences and begin to craft internal maps for finding our way through personal changes. We’ll learn how to walk with others through transitions in their lives. We’ll explore how to find our footing with the global happenings on our planet.

This seasonal transition with Solstice is part of a much wider and deeper Turning of the Times. We’re in the bridge-time between eras in our human existence on earth. This Great Turning holds the promise of humanity’s remembering of our whole-hearted humanness, of rekindling our belonging with each other and life on earth, of bringing our unique gifts to the cosmic dance among the stars.

Listen to the stirrings, the hungers, the instinctive momentum for change moving about in your inner landscape and the outer world.

Love is the medicine which opens doorways of change ~ for letting go and untangling, for dreaming up and seeding potentials, for remembering and becoming whole-hearted human again, and giving birth to the new.
