Aging With Grace: Embracing Your Unique Journey On Your Terms &Raquo; Women Over 50

“At your age you should have already…”

What does that even mean?!?

Do you have an expectation of what you should have accomplished at or by certain ages? Why?

What does age have to do with being prepared, being successful, or being married? You fill in the blanks. It isn’t like a switch goes off in your body or your head that says, “well, you haven’t become a success by now, you might as well give up.” Or does it? In which case go read the blog on your self-talk!

What a silly thing. Expecting certain things to happen when you hit certain ages. Or that by a certain age you should have accomplished something – like found your perfect mate or had a baby or made your first million $.

I don’t know about you but most people who make those types of comments rarely have done them for themselves – or they did nothing else but make those millions and lost their family over lack of attention to them.

The point is this. We don’t know when it is the end of our lives. Sometimes we get a heads up, but most of the time we do not.

So….live each moment with intentionality. Decide what is important to you and be okay if that changes with experience. Sometimes we think we want something until we have it and then realize that it really was the journey that was important, not the end point – be it tangible or intangible.
