Transformative Art Therapy: Healing Trauma and Bridging Cultures with CAREY
What happens when art becomes a tool for healing? Join me, Steve Ramona, as I engage in a thought-provoking conversation with CAREY , an expert in neurodevelopmental art Therapy. We explore the incredible ways her innovative approach rebuilds essential neural pathways, fostering empathy and compassion in individuals who have experienced deep trauma. CAREY’s moving account of working with a young inmate underscores the urgent need for trauma-informed care, revealing the potential to break the destructive cycles of trauma and incarceration.
My deep connection with Native American culture has fueled a commitment to supporting Native American Reservations. I share my personal journey of integrating into the Lakota tribe, witnessing the profound impact of historical trauma firsthand. This segment emphasizes the importance of providing trauma treatment services, from consultations to group work and an online course. As I prepare for my upcoming move to Colombia, I reflect on the beauty and safety of the country and the significance of cultural sensitivity in trauma healing.
We also tackle the crucial issue of making art therapy accessible across cultural and linguistic barriers. By translating therapeutic content into multiple languages, we aim to empower non-English speakers and bridge cultural gaps. From preschools to elder care, the versatility of our program shines through, highlighted by personal stories of the resilience within the Latino community. Our future plans include expanding Online Courses, authoring a book series, and seeking investors to support outreach efforts, especially for Native children and tribal schools. Join us for an inspiring journey of healing and empowerment through art.
