Buenos Aires, Argentina
June 17th, 2023

I’m at the airport and will be boarding soon for my return flight home. Last night we went to a tango show. It was great fun, if a bit too commercial for my taste. Today, I spent the day on a tour of Tigre, a neighborhood about fifteen miles from Buenos Aires. The area sits at the confluence of two rivers, the Plata and the Sarmiento. Small tributaries and canals flow from those rivers. Source Originally Published on https://karengershowitz.com/ Continue Reading

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires We disembarked the ship this morning. With no fuss, we grabbed a taxi and went to our hotel. Amazingly, at 9 am, they had a room ready for us. After settling in a bit, we grabbed another taxi (which are inexpensive) and went to the San Telmo neighborhood. On Sundays, there is an open-air market that extends from Plaza Dorrego in several directions. There are crafts and antiques… Source Originally Published on https://karengershowitz.com/ Continue Reading

Antarctic Cruise — Day 11
June 17th, 2023

Our weather luck ran out Today was a port everyone was eagerly anticipating — Stanley in the Falkland Islands. It’s a great place to see King penguins. And, of course, to get souvenirs to prove we’d visited there. We’d been told there was a 50:50 chance the ship would allow passengers to go ashore. From where the ship anchors it is a 30 minute tender ride (basically a shuttle) to get into Stanley… Source Originally Published on https://karengershowitz.com/ Continue Reading

Puerto Madryn Argentina Without a call at Puerto Madryn, the ship would be at sea for two days. It is the northernmost edge of Argentinian Patagonia. We were the only ship in port, a good thing or we would have overwhelmed it. Nearly everyone took a shore excursion hoping to get their first glimpses of penguins and other Patagonian wildlife. Sue and I took a tour to Peninsula Valdez wildlife… Source Originally Published on https://karengershowitz.com/ Continue Reading

June 16th, 2023

Summer is coming up fast and some of us are considering travel as an option. Some of us will book our own trips but others will consider using a travel agent. I am inclined to use a travel agent to book my travel. Travel agents are trained professionals who have extensive knowledge and experience in the travel industry. They can offer valuable advice and insights on destinations, flights, hotels, and activities that may not be easily accessible to the average traveller. These folks can often get good deals, especially if you’re in the market for a vacation package or cruise. When you plan a... Continue Reading
