My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Karen E Osborne, author of the book Justice for Emerson. Karen is an award-winning and Amazon Kindle best-selling author of five suspense novels–Reckonings (award-winning family saga/suspense), Tangled Lies (award-winning murder mystery), Getting It Right (recognized by Essence Magazine as a Best Read), True Grace, (award-winning historical fiction inspired by her grandmother, set in 1924 Harlem, NY), and Justice for Emerson, a dual timeline murder mystery.

Karen believes in generosity and giving back. She hosts a weekly video podcast What Are You Reading? What Are You Writing? supporting fellow authors. She is on the board of directors of Easterseals Florida helping the differently abled, is an Elder in her church, volunteers for several professional organizations supporting nonprofits and feeds the hungry and unhoused every week. Native New Yorkers living in Florida, Karen and her husband, Robert, have two grown children and three grandsons.

In my book review, I stated Justice for Emerson is a wonderful mystery with a side of romance and a dash of historical fiction – and I simply loved this book! Without a doubt, I am a sucker for books that cross genres. Plus, it had a dual timeline and more than one POV.

The main character, Aria, loves to serve. Her career puts her on the frontlines battling homelessness, addiction, and hunger. She’s a go-getter, but she’s not perfect. She has a chip on her shoulder – she hates her diminutive stature and worries if others see her as a capable leader – AND she’s still grieving the loss of her husband – which means she’s more than conflicted about the attention of two very different and very handsome men.

Things come to a head when she finds Emerson, a volunteer and Vietnam Vet who struggles with addiction, shot in the basement of her non-profit. To make matters worse, she sees the killer, and he threatens her and everyone she loves.

The descriptions of those living in their cars tore at my heart. The romance stirred my heart. And the twists and turns kept my heart racing. It’s a story you won’t want to miss!
