Paratrooper, and Power of Story: Joseph Bolton’s Journey Through History, Heritage, and Heroism

From jumping out of planes to jumping into stories, this episode of The MisFitNation brings you a unique voice—Joseph Bolton, a former Army paratrooper and West Point graduate turned author and heritage storyteller.

Joseph grew up in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, immersed in the fading echoes of French-Canadian culture. After a distinguished military career—including graduating from Ranger School and serving as a Space Operations Officer in Afghanistan—he returned to his roots through storytelling.

🎙️ In this episode, Joseph shares:

His journey from the airborne to the academy

The heritage and mystery of Québec that inspired his book series Old Grandmother’s Tree

Why he considers teaching math to kids the most fulfilling job he’s had

How ancestral stories connect generations—and can guide us through modern chaos

What it’s like to explore identity through multicultural lineage (French-Canadian, Native American, Spanish, English, Irish)

📚 Old Grandmother’s Tree is more than a book—it’s a tribute to oral tradition, cultural preservation, and the timeless Wisdom carried through folk tales.
