What is a Turkish hammam? Sharing my experience #travelingartist #artistsonyoutube
I went to Turkey at the beginning of June and I spent 10 days total in Ankara, Cappadocia and then Istanbul. It definitely changed my life and I’m still processing all the amazing energies and people I met.
I drew some sketches along the way and will be putting those into my next painting. You might have seen my last couple of videos highlighting the prepping of that one.
Enjoy and if you’ve ever had a hammam and even get them regularly I would love love love to hear about your own experience.
Notes about what all happened during the session:
1. It was a 600 year old hammam (building housing these Turkish baths) inside was so much gorgeous white marble.
2. It started with about 30 minutes of soaking all my skin with really warm water to soften the skin.
3. Then the exfoliation started… about 20 good minutes of a coarse cloth that really got a lot of dead skin off of my whole body. Intense!
4. Shower
5. THEN soapy exfoliation and deep cleansing.
6. Shower
7. I opted for the Turkish coffee scrubdown too.
8. Shower
9. Major scalp massage and deep cleaning.
10. Hair washing
11. Hair rinsing, then hair conditioner
12. Shower…..
13. Rest and wait for my sister-in-law to finish up. PHEW! It was super amazing!!!!
