Using virtual assistants for online shopping

Virtual assistants like Alexa can help seniors with
online shopping. Here are some examples of how seniors can use Alexa to shop
online:

1.
Create
a Shopping List:

a.
“Alexa,
add [item] to my shopping list.”

b.
“Alexa,
what’s on my shopping list?”

c.
“Alexa,
remove [item] from my shopping list.”

2.
Reorder
Previous Purchases:

d.
“Alexa,
reorder [item].”

e.
“Alexa,
reorder my last purchase from [store].”

3.
Browse
and Buy Products:

f.
“Alexa,
search for [product] on Amazon.”

g.
“Alexa,
order [product] from Amazon.”

h.
“Alexa,
what are the deals of the day on Amazon?”

4.
Check
Delivery Status:

i.
“Alexa,
where’s my stuff?”

j.
“Alexa,
track my package from [store]”.

Seniors
will need to set up their Alexa account to link to their Amazon account for online
shopping. They can also choose to enable voice purchasing, which allows them to
buy products with their voice.

It’s
important to note that online shopping may require a credit or debit card, so
seniors should ensure they have a safe and secure way to make payments before
using this feature. Additionally, some products may not be available for
purchase through Alexa, so seniors should check the availability and pricing of
their desired products before using this feature.

While
Amazon is the primary online store used with Alexa, there are some third-party
stores that can be used as well. However, the availability and compatibility of
these stores may vary based on the region and device. Some examples of
third-party stores that can be used with Alexa include:

1.             Walmart:
With the Walmart skill, users can shop for groceries and household essentials,
track orders, and reorder items from their previous purchases.

2.             Best
Buy: The Best Buy skill allows users to browse and purchase products, track
orders, and get information about products and services offered by Best Buy.

3.             Target:
With the Target skill, users can shop for groceries, household essentials, and
other products, as well as track orders and find deals and promotions.

4.              Uber:
The Uber skill allows users to request rides and get information about the
status of their rides.

5.              Domino’s:
With Domino’s skill, users can order pizza, track their orders, and get
updates on their delivery status.

It’s important to note that
not all stores may be available in all regions or on all devices. Seniors
should check the availability and compatibility of their preferred stores
before using them with Alexa.
