Daily Looks: Week Ending 9.22.23
Everyone in Arizona is thrilled because the temperatures are cooling down. Not that you’ll see me in my parka yet, but I might pull out the ankle boots.
I think you would enjoy it if you signed up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Saturday
This is one of those amazing silk wrap skirts that can be transformed into many other items, as I showed last year. Today I was going to wear it with the green print on the outside, but then decided to take the top layer and just tuck it up into the ties so some of the lower layers showed.
I wanted to keep it casual, so I wore it with a graphic t-shirt. The saying is “Mid-life is the best life” but unfortunately I can’t find the same message anywhere now.
The cognac sandals were a comfortable surprise from Bealls last summer and then I accessorized with my clear necklace from ISLYNYC and my green earrings from Lil Shop of Ours.
Insider tip: Lil Shop of Ours is a business run by 2 sisters. They will customize any of their designs to the colors of your choice and heck, they’ve even made a design at my prompting (a skein of yarn). And the earrings are usually $20-$25.
Sunday
This type of t-shirt dress is so convenient for hanging out. Today is a massage day, so I like to choose something easy to get on and off and it won’t get ruined from the massage oil.
I went FULL ON with print mixing.
Even though it’s still very warm here, I like a layer because the massage place is always chilly. I won this “duster” from Caite & Kyla years ago. I think the stripes and print work together because of the similar colors.
Then I added print sandals that have a red plaid heel and leopard front.
The accessories are metallic and the hat is because my hair is always a mess after a massage.
Monday
This was a dress I found with the hanger hanging backward from my experiment from a couple of years ago. That told me it was time to wear it again. I really like the dress so I’m not sure why it hasn’t made it into rotation recently except that I have a boatload of clothes.
I tried to pull up the material with one of my scarf clips (on Amazon) and even put a clear elastic around it to secure it, but it didn’t last all day. Luckily it’s not too long, especially with a little bit of heel.
These sandals have a thick enough block heel that I can easily wear them all day. Lesley has a pair just like them and bought these for me after I fell in love with her pair.
I love having my hair long enough to pull it back in a ponytail. Now I need one of those hair scrunchies to make it look thicker.
Tuesday
I hadn’t worn this bralette for the longest time, and now I’ve worn it bunches. I think it’s because I really like it under vests, and it’s convenient for pieces that gape open when I bend over.
Insider tip: Halftees has a very similar item that is now on sale for only $11 and comes in both black and white. Use code SUMMER to get this amazing deal (there are other clearance items if you are interested.
I love the lime green color of this vest with the bronze skirt. You’ve seen this same vest on me and 2 other friends earlier this spring. In fact, I wore it backward.
For some reason, I love slip skirts and will be creating an article on ways to style them (both creatively and normally).
I wore polka dot sandals but it goes to show you can’t really tell they are polka dots from this distance. But did you notice that I forgot lipstick!!
BTW, I’m working with a jewelry company that sells the “J” necklace that I’m wearing (seen better in the top photo). The brand is called Gorjana and could be wonderful for holiday gifts. There are some higher-end pieces, but also some less expensive ones. And they have engraveable items too.
My necklace comes in the budget version (and a higher end version).
Wednesday
I just adore the pants I bought from Zara. Zara’s is one of those stores that tends to cater to the young kids, yet when I introduced both my mom and Lesley to it, they liked shopping there too. And when they have sales, you can get some great deals. For instance, these pants were only $10.
I’ve worn them with all kinds of different colors. Today’s thought process was to pick a top where the color is darker than what is in the print.
I remember not understanding cami tops long ago. Why would you buy one when you couldn’t wear a regular bra with them? But now that I have my Gatherall bra, it makes sense. Since we were going to the chiropractor, I used a magnet at the front to keep it from gaping open.
And since it’s cooled down somewhat, I even wore sneakers. These are my thrifted Adidas sneakers which aren’t quite as comfy as my Cariuma ones.
I’m also wearing an entire jewelry set from ISLYNYC. I think the clear pieces add shine without taking the focus from the cool pants.
Friday
I just won a giveaway from Gibsonlook and wanted to wear one of my goodies right away. This “Bubble top” was part of my box of items. I also recorded a short Live on Facebook with all of the items I won. It was SO exciting to win and the customer service was amazing and incredibly fast.
Since I hadn’t worn shorts yet this week, I paired the top with this pair of thrifted faux leather shorts. These shorts have been worn in the colder weather with tights.
It was cool enough to wear my hair extensions and sneakers. These floral sneakers were also a Goodwill find recently, and I just love how they basically match my floral earrings.
Then I wore a turquoise necklace and bracelet that popped against the hot pink of the top.
Thank you
