Bonanza of Zodiac Signs as Aesthetic Styles-Thrifty 6
You just gotta love our blogger’s collaborations because the most interesting ideas come out from them. For today’s international group of thrifty women, we are thinking about zodiac signs as aesthetic styles.
Now I don’t know about you, but I’m from back in the day when the cheesiest pickup line was “Hey baby, what is your sign?”
Quote of the day: “A hunch is creativity trying to tell you something.” Frank Capra
And while I never really got into my horoscopes (because when I used to read them all, they all basically sounded the same), it’s a fun process to see how you could style an outfit based upon your zodiac sign.
I’m sure we all pick and choose the parts about our zodiac sign that seem to fit with our personality, but you have to admit that some things are very apt.
If you like the idea of styling outfits from thrift stores, then you should see some of our other articles.
Styling an Aquarius Outfit
Charlotte was born in January making her zodiac sign an Aquarius. My mom gave me this description for wearing zodiac signs as aesthetic styles, “unconventional, unique, and sometimes chaotic.”
The focal point is this skirt which was originally a jumper dress back in the 90s. After wearing it for many years, my mom put it in the basement thinking she would purge it, but then ended up recreating it into this hi-low skirt because she loved the fabric so much.
And in my mom’s thrifty fashion, she even made a flower pin with some of the leftover material.
How a Pisces Styles an Outfit
Suzann shared a couple of descriptors for her zodiac signs as aesthetic styles that resonated with her:
“Emotions: sentimental, tender hearted, emotional, nostalgic
Style: bohemian, romantic style with fashionable edge, likes to dress up every chance they get, elegant, extravagant, likes to shop vintage/hippie markets.
Fabrics/silhouettes: flowy dresses, floral, wide sleeve blouses, camisoles, fringed tops, kimonos”
The one thing you don’t see except in the group photo at the bottom is the scarf Suzann is wearing as a belt with a pin used to hold it together.
How to Dress as a Gemini
Lesley gave me this input for Gemini zodiac signs as aesthetic styles. “My style includes bright and vivid colors with yellow being the leader. Even though I didn’t incorporate yellow into this outfit, I do have a good amount of yellow clothes in my closet.
I thought this kimono was perfect for my Gemini sign since it had two figures on it just like the Gemini is twins. It’s an outfit that is perfect for casual lunch, running around on a day off, and also a casual date night. As a matter of fact, I did wear it for my date night and was complimented.”
Sagitarrius Fashion Style
My birthday month is December and that makes me a Sagitarrius. The zodiac sign is half man and half horse so I thought the cowboy boots were very appropos.
As for a description of a Sagitarrius, I picked out “playful, fun, and competitive”. The funny part was that I read that you’d never be able to guess what a Sag outfit would look like and I do think that is me in my life now. I would definitely describe my style as unpredictable and colorful.
The shorts started out as a pair of suede pants that I thrifted back in Denver, for only $15. I loved them but they never tickled my fancy because when I was wearing them, they didn’t seem special. Therefore, I decided to cut them off to be shorts with this tutorial.
Another interesting detail is after thrifting this top, I was reading the label where it said “sleepwear”. Needless to say, I keep it hanging in my closet with the other tops, and you’ve seen it in another everyday look in the past.

Thrifty 6 with Zodiac Signs as Aesthetic Styles
With the fashion and textile industry being a major contributor to landfills and other environmental pollution, we decided to make it the mission of this little group to focus on second-hand items. Every month we will choose a theme and share our styles with you to hopefully inspire you to shop more preloved and less fast fashion.
Insider tip: If there aren’t many wonderful secondhand shops near you, then I included a list of online shops that I love at the end of this post.

Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge
“I am Gemini through and through. The celestial twins are both integral parts of my airy personality. The yin and the yang work in perfect harmony as I float through life with my head in the clouds. Geminis are often considered social butterflies, so I restyled my butterfly wrap made from thrifted scarves. The contrasting colors represent the duality of my sign and vibrant colors are always a favorite of playful and curious Geminis. There are many more Gemini-inspired details in this outfit including my ‘twin fly’ brooches but you will have to visit my post to see it all!”

“My zodiac sign is achievement-oriented, perfectionist and tidy. But also so focused on achieving goals that this sign can also have an overly critical attitude. And is easily tense and anxious. My zodiac sign is honest, loyal and reliable. And good at cheering up other people.
And? Did you guess? My zodiac sign is Virgo! And how do I adjust my outfit to my zodiac sign? Virgo doesn’t like too much hassle. Not even in their outfit. It should look simple, coordinated and elegant. A few beautiful pieces of jewelry are more than enough. The Virgo does not need much, she radiates from within!
And see here! This is me! Simple, matchy matchy and elegant. Pre loved top from Cos via Vinted, Zara skirt and Adidas sneakers.”

“My zodiac sign is Cancer, a water sign symbolized by the crab. Cancerians are ruled by the moon and are said to be passionate, caring, sensitive, creative, and secretive. I chose a vintage shirt in a blue pattern to represent water and silver cropped trousers, sandals, and a thrifted cocktail ring for the moon. My bag, which was a gift from my dad, features a fun crabby Cancerian print.”

“Twinkle, twinkle little star…
…how I wonder what star sign you are?
This month’s T6 theme is all about star signs…
…there’s only one star sign for me and that’s the sign of a star!
Stars are cute and fun to style, this little rara skirt is a bit of fun too…”

“I don’t really pay any mind to astrology, but putting together an outfit inspired by my star sign was such a fun challenge! I am a Scorpio—bold, creative, determined, and mysterious. I can’t say I’m very mysterious (I’m about as open a book as they come) but I like to think this outfit has a little allure to it. The original ensemble I put together with this thrifted bodycon dress was too wintery, so I decided on an edgy date night look instead. For some reason Zodiac signs make me think of geometric prints, and black is one of Scorpio’s go-to colors! I topped the outfit off with my beaded shooting star clutch and a deep red lipstick for a hint of bold.”
