“You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it.” Charles Buxton We all share the same 24 hours in a day, yet some people seem to effortlessly accomplish their goals while others struggle to keep up. The secret lies in effective time management—a skill that can transform your life and lead you to success. In this blog post, we will explore practical strategies to make the most of your time, ensuring a balanced and fulfilling life. One of the fundamental principles of time management is prioritization. Listening Beyond Words & Building Deeper Connections

Listening Beyond Words &Amp; Building Deeper Connections &Raquo; Barack Obama 1159790 1280 1024X682 1

“One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.” Bryant H. McGill Even though my mom and I have a great connection, that doesn’t stop us from having the following types of conversations quite often. Mom: – On your way to my place, will you pick Me: – Pick up apples and walnuts? (Because I know that we planned to make apple pie together) Mom: – No, silly! Will you pick your aunt up? She called and said she would like to come over and needs a ride. That has something to do with her and me loving to complete each other’s sentences, knowing... Continue Reading

The Secret to a Happy Relationship: Self-Actualization
August 21st, 2023

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson The main reason I am this happy in my relationship with my husband is not just because he makes me laugh all the time, or he is a great travel companion, or he is a compassionate and loving man – and I am not saying all these are not great, they certainly are – but mostly because he gives me room to grow, to express myself through my work, and to fulfill my life purpose.  In return, I do the same for him because we value the importance of self-actualization in... Continue Reading

Accepting what is…
February 4th, 2023

Practicing acceptance can be difficult for many of us. Because it goes against our natural inclination to resist change and hold on to what is familiar. It can be hard to let go of our expectations and desires. Or to accept the reality of a situation, especially if it is painful. We may struggle with anger, disappointment, or sadness as we try to come to terms with what is happening. But despite the challenges, acceptance is a powerful tool that can support us in finding inner strength in the face of adversity. One way to make acceptance easier is to focus on the present moment rather than dwelling... Continue Reading

Control is an illusion
September 25th, 2022

I started my live meditation session on the Insight Timer platform with excitement and joy today. A few minutes into the session, while still meet and greet were going on, there were already 54 lovely people with me. We were warming up, ready to get to the session topic, when I received the feedback from participants that they ceased to see and hear me on their screen. I did not know what to do. I tried ending the session and restarting it when the situation did not resolve after a few minutes. But I could not do it. I tried logging out and back in many times without success. Old Ipek vs New Ipek The... Continue Reading

Don’t Let Your Comfort Zone Become Your Trap
August 26th, 2022

It is summer. I am on holiday, enjoying my downtime. I am resting both my tired body and mind, which gives me plenty of time to observe, reflect, and meditate. My days are filled with mindfulness, and quality time with family and friends, by the beautiful sea that gifts us with all the shades of green, blue, and turquoise. I see gorgeous scenery around me, taste delicious food, and I am right in the middle of my big and cozy comfort zone. This morning, when I woke up, I thought, “How would it feel if all my life was like this? A lifelong holiday.” And as the Universe’s response to my... Continue Reading

Being “Self Centered” vs “Service Centered”
July 5th, 2022

My mom lives in a gated community in Istanbul. When I came down to visit her, I noticed the security guys working there are very fond of her. I asked why they treated her differently. She said that whenever she bakes anything, as soon as it is out of the oven, she brings some of it to these hardworking and under-compensated people we take for granted. So, whenever she comes home with stuff she needs to carry in the building, they run to help her not because they have to but because they want to. Because it is that easy to make people happy… It is that easy to make them feel seen and appreciated.... Continue Reading

How to identify the fear of success?
May 6th, 2022

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us. Marianne Williamson I am a big fan of Marianne Williamson. She embodies spirituality, intelligence, and integrity with everything she says and does. Though another reason why I feel close to her is that we carry the same last name. She states the above quote in her book A Return to Love. And she continues by saying, “We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are... Continue Reading

Celebrating The Life of a Departed Soul
March 31st, 2022

Cooper, our lovely and loving family dog of 14 years, who was much more than just a dog to us, passed away. We had to put him to sleep. Being with him in his last moments, holding him, caressing his thick and beautiful hair has been a hard thing to go through. Nonetheless, an experience that brought me a feeling of calmness. When he laid down in peace with me and his daddy next to him, I felt the excitement for him. Thinking every end is also a beginning.   I have thought about death. How big a physical void it creates in our lives. How unbearable at times it gets the amount of yearning we... Continue Reading

The Pride of a Bridge
March 10th, 2022

I was born in a city where bridges connect two continents, Asia and Europe. At the time, there was none, and the only way to pass from one side to the other was through the waterway. Later on, when I was in primary school, they erected the first bridge. Then came the second, and then came the third one. That unique city is Istanbul, one that stretches out on both continents. We lived on the Asian side. But starting from middle school, I passed the bridge to the European side every school day and later in life, every workday. Going on both ways, I would look down to the sea and watch fishers’... Continue Reading
