Milton paid us a visit
Thank goodness we evacuated from Sarasota to Miami. Half of a tree fell on our roof, and a branch pierced the ceiling of our youngest’s bedroom—it looked like a scene straight out of Stranger Things.
Another tree also came down in the backyard, and now it looks like a junkyard out there.
Phil had to saw through branches just to get us inside. Even the dog didn’t want to come in!
We’re grateful we left and didn’t have to experience this firsthand in our quirky old Florida home.
The emotional upheaval has been quite the ride. More on that in another post. I’ve cried concerned about my youngest and about our town getting trashed.
We have a high deductible so we’ll see how insurance works out but hey. There is still a roof and electricity in half the house.
Despite everything, we’re grateful to be safe and well. The kids are all accounted for, and the dog is doing fine.
This is how we cope with life’s curveballs—by finding the humor in it.
A special shoutout to @americasbestsd for the amazing sketch classes that have helped me see the lighter side of tough times.
Sending strength to everyone impacted by Hurricane Milton. Let me know if you need help with getting any important messages out there. Or if you just need help.
We’ve got this!
