“Dad, I’m going to be visiting you on March 15th and my flight arrives at. And so that means, you’ll see me at approximately this time.” That created all kinds of stress for him. “When is it when Irene getting here? Is it March 15th yet?” You know, he’d be bugging the staff. And they said you don’t need to tell him ahead of time that you’re coming, just come. So, I did, I just arrived. He would go, “Oh, Irene’s here. What a surprise.” Irene Olsen- Author

Bio:

The author’s debut novel, Requiem for the Status Quo was written to honor her father who died from Alzheimer’s disease. This work from the heart celebrates and encourages family caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s or other dementia. In her second novel, A Jagged Journey, Ms. Olson encourages all who have ever hit speedbumps and roadblocks in their personal life to evolve and arrive at a place where hurt begets joy, where smarts don’t necessarily equate to intelligence, and vulnerability guarantees increased strength. Seems impossible, doesn’t it? Her recent novel will make a believer out of you.

Irene authors a blog,  www.babyboomersandmore.com, a multi-aged community of diverse interests that is also known as Living: the ultimate team sport. Her weekly contributions have been enjoyed by readers for more than ten years.

Ms. Olson also has her own byline in an online Australian publication, Grandparents Day Magazine. In Your Corner, has appeared in the publication for many years. On an interesting note, the author only became a grandparent in 2017 so being sought out to contribute to this publication years before that time appears to have been a foretaste of things to come as she is now the grandparent of a five-year-old grandson, and a one-and-a-half-year-old, granddaughter. Irene relishes the ongoing grandparenting duties she and her husband enjoy in her home state of Washington.
