Pill Stuck in Throat? Here’s a Surprising Solution!

Uh oh, pill stuck in your throat? Donโ€™t panic! ๐Ÿ’Š๐Ÿ˜ฌ It happens more often than you think. Here are some tips to help dislodge it:

Take a sip of water: Sometimes, a little extra liquid is all you need to wash it down.

Try swallowing a piece of food: A small bite of banana or bread might help push the pill down.

Tilt your head toward the side that feels like the pill is stuck and SWALLOW HARD: This can change the angle and help the pill move along.

Most of the time, a pill isnโ€™t big enough to block your airway, but it does feel scary when it gets stuck on the mucosal lining of your throat. Try the technique again, or maybe take a bite of food, chew, and swallow hard.

Pills or capsules get "stuck" in the throat because the coating on the pill sticks to the mucosal lining in your throat. When this happens, it can irritate your throat in that area, making it feel like the pill is still there when really itโ€™s already gone down, but the area is irritated. It should subside in a few days.

If youโ€™re still experiencing discomfort, please contact your primary care physician.

Important: If youโ€™re still struggling or experiencing difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately! โš ๏ธ
