February was the longest winter of my life. As a long time San Franciscian, most summers in NorCal, I quoted Twain’s ‘longest winter’ as the cold bay wind required a pea coat in June, July and August.
Every summer my woolen coats would wrap me like a blanket in July setting me into the same despair I have here in February. My body craved warmth which I finally got in March in Arizona to celebrate a friend’s 50th birthday.
March was equally cold yet filled with many birthday celebrations. Yet, I’m not mentally ready for springtime and the start of summer. In 2025, the closing out a month, is part baffling & a very welcomed turn of the page. February’s darkness is finally illuminated by daylight savings and spring’s official equinox, March gave much hope & ease.
Also celebrating being in People.com written by Nicol Natale, asking how I juggle it all and what my favorite lululemon gear is to move from day to day, work to Yoga.
Writing it Down – The to do list. Sometime after December 25th, I stopped creating written to do lists. My brain suffered from overwhelm without the prioritization of my paper list where I can cross things off and remind myself that walking and yoga are daily priorities. This is to do list tracker is similar to mine.
Reading – Who isn’t reading this one about Relationships? I like that we can apply it to all types of relationships, not just a spouse. Yung Pueblo’s take on philosophy is part self help, part story telling and a call for introspection. (Don’t worry, Jon Mull, I didn’t read the chapter on breaking up)
Celebrating– I have vowed to have more fun, celebrate more and love new ways of finding joy with friends. Sloane’s 10th birthday was a mini wedding with so many fun details (tents, spa masks and red velvet cake). Did I mention I was in People last week? Cue the champagne.
Watching: White Lotus on HBO is what my winter brain needed. Although the character development feels spotty, I’m intruiged by their broad brand partnerships like Faire Harbor. Everyone wants to be on the Lotus success train including an already successful woman who jumped to take her first acting role. Unfortunately, the story is impenetrably for me.
Five postcards: I found sweet postcards in my closet and I sent short, loving notes in the mail in February and March. How is it different than a text? IDK but it felt easy and childlike. Who doesn’t love unexpected mail?
Listened to …. Upper Limit Podcast by Brianna Weist where she dives into how much joy are you allowing yourself to have vs puting a ceiling on it.
Music off in the Car: I’m overstimulated often, so I’ve been driving solo with the radio off to hear myself think. What a dream.
