Stepping Out in Style: How To Rock Blue Shoes Outfits

I’m a firm believer that shoes can make or break a look. That’s one reason I thought it would be fun to have the three of us rock blue shoe outfits with three different concepts. This all started because Joanne chose the prompt January Blues for our Ageless Style group.

Quote of the day: “Comparison is the thief of joy when applied broadly, but the teacher of skills when applied narrowly.” James Clear

When it comes to building a versatile wardrobe, shoes are often the secret ingredient that takes an outfit from basic to brilliant. Blue shoes, in particular, are a game-changer. They’re bold, they’re unexpected, and they add a touch of personality to any look.

In this post, I’ll break down three fabulous ways to style blue shoes: as a pop of color with a neutral outfit, paired with a monochromatic look, and used in a colorful outfit. Even if you don’t have this underrated shoe color in your wardrobe, you can use these ideas for any shoe color.

Since I believe shoes are an integral part of an outfit, we have discussed ways to wear them many times in the past.

As much as I love my site, Jodie’s Touch of Style, I really enjoy putting together my daily emails. I consider my emails an extension of my blog that is chocked full of positive inspiration that one friend calls a “Variety Show.”
I include articles, videos, and posts that strike my fancy and since I have no siblings to share with, I share with you.

1. Lesley-Blue Shoes as a Pop of Color

If you’re someone who loves classic neutrals but wants to spice things up, blue shoes are the perfect solution. They can breathe life into a neutral outfit without overwhelming it.

Details: The fashion rule of matching your shoes to your purse has long been banished from an absolute must-do. Yet, Lesley shows how you can still incorporate the idea to make a colorful shoe seem more intentional in a neutral look.

Insider tip: Changeable purse straps are a fun (and inexpensive) way to change up your purse without switching out all of the stuff in it.

Why It Works: Blue shoes with neutral outfits strike the perfect balance. The boldness of the shoes contrasts beautifully with the subdued tones, creating an effortlessly chic look. Plus, it’s a great way to ease into wearing colorful footwear if you’re new to it.

2. Charlotte-Blue Shoes with a Monochromatic Outfit

Monochromatic dressing is sleek, and one of my mom’s favorite ways to put together a look. That’s why I knew she would love adding blue shoes to a monochromatic outfit.

Details: Charlotte’s pants are palazzo pants and are meant to be worn in the summer because they are lightweight and flowy.

Insider tip: Yet there’s no reason you can’t wear lightweight items in the winter too. Layer hosiery, tights, or even leggings under them to make them weather-appropriate.

Why It Works: Monochromatic outfits are visually harmonious, and adding blue shoes—whether in the same tone or a contrasting shade—enhances the look without disrupting its balance. It’s an easy way to experiment with color without worrying that the pieces “go together”.

3. Jodie-Blue Shoes in a Colorful Outfit

For those of us who love bold and playful fashion, blue shoes can be a fantastic addition to colorful outfits. They add an unexpected element that keeps the look fresh and fun.

To make my blue shoes outfit seem more planned I added a blue top, yet it’s not front and center. In fact, I combined orange and lilac with the blue which seems like a color combination you don’t see often (if ever). Yet, I like it.

I did include blue accents with my brooches and purse to try to pull more blue into the ensemble.

Details:
-These are the Claudette boots from the Online Shoe Deals site that I reviewed recently. Use code COMFY10 to save even more on these incredible booties (they are under $35).
-I added brooches galore to both sides of this faux fur jacket. One side has blue brooches and one side is decorated with gold ones.
-Using this “I Love Lucy” lunchbox for a purse always makes me smile.

Why It Works: Incorporating blue shoes into a colorful outfit is all about embracing fun and showcasing your personality.
Blue is a versatile hue that complements many colors, making it a natural choice for vibrant ensembles. By anchoring the look with blue footwear, you’re creating a cohesive yet dynamic outfit.

3 Concepts With Blue Shoes Outfits

Final Thoughts

Blue shoes are far more versatile than you might think, and they’re an excellent way to add personality and flair to your wardrobe. Whether you’re styling them with neutrals for a pop of color, integrating them into a monochromatic look, or pairing them with bold hues, there’s no shortage of creative options.

The key to making blue shoes work is confidence. Once you’ve embraced the idea, you’ll find yourself reaching for it more often than you’d expect. So go ahead and take the plunge into the world of blue shoes—your outfits will thank you!
