Latest Scarf Trends For a Sensational Summer
Summer is often the time that some of our wardrobe goes into hiding. And if you are anything like me, then that means you aren’t wearing your scarves as much as you do in the winter months.
However, armed with a couple of the latest scarf trends, we can change that. I found two basic ideas to combine a t-shirt and scarf and showcased them with a couple of variations.
Hopefully, this is something you can take from your own closet and create your own masterpiece.
Quote of the day: “One of my guiding principles is don’t do anything that other people are doing. Always do something a little different if you can.” Seymour Cray
I believe that we should wear the fabulous items that we already have in our closet. Sure, it’s great to update our wardrobe and buy new things. But it always seems sad when we put the scarves away when the weather gets warm.
Hey, I get it. Wrapping any kind of material around your neck when it’s over 80 degrees outside is not my idea of fun either.
That’s why I wanted to share a couple of the latest scarf trends that I’ve been seeing around Instagram.
I can’t take credit for thinking of these fabulous tricks, but I can say they will work for women of any age, size, and shape.
Scarves are something discussed often on this site so if you are looking for more inspiration, I have oodles of content for you.
1-Latest Scarf Trends: Shoulder Scarf
I loved the idea of using a scarf to act as decoration on the sleeve of a top. If it’s too warm to add a necklace to your outfit, then this might be your accessory option of choice.
For both examples, I used a small, square scarf and threaded it through the neck to the sleeve hole. Then you just tie a knot, and you’re good to go.
Insider tip: You can have the scarf slide under your bra strap so it stays hidden if the shirt moves during the day.

Create a Backless Top
I was inspired by an influencer on Instagram (found here) with this latest scarf trends idea. The above variation is how Doranellys showcased it with the scarf showing in the front “v” and the criss-cross in the back.
But I changed it up a tad in the photos below with the same concept to have the t-shirt higher in the front, and more open in the back.
Insider tip: Any sleeveless or short sleeve t-shirt would work. You are basically wearing the t-shirt double in the front, so it’s a fabulous hack if you have a shirt that seems too thin to wear normally.
BTW, I am wearing my backless/strapless bra, Gatherall. I think you can see how it supports and lifts wonderfully.
And the white tank top is my Mott & Bow slub tee. It’s lightweight enough for our hotter temperatures.
I’m using a skinny scarf in these examples, but you can fold/roll a rectangular scarf also or use a self-belt.
Finding Scarves
Scarves can be found anywhere and everywhere. The secret is not limiting yourself to looking for “scarves” per se.
A self-belt that came with that last dress you bought. That could be a scarf.
The extra material cut off of that maxi skirt you just had hemmed. That could be a scarf.
Your favorite clothing item that is falling apart from years of wear. That could be recycled into a scarf.
Or heck, check out the nearest thrift store.
BTW, if you are looking for inexpensive scarves and don’t enjoy thrifting, then try Shein, Etsy, or Temu.
