A common theme is feeling underappreciated while growing up and attempting to uncover our identity. Sadly, all the negativity surrounding individuals will produce fear on multiple levels, such as embracing one’s identity to speak up or attempting new objectives to more definitively who we are. 

The surrounding ugliness can be detrimental, or we can view it as permission to work alone to figure out who we want to become. Today’s blog theme is to embrace your personality for authentic branding and growth.

Upon acknowledging our unique identity, we begin to attract attention and grow our networks, leading to business growth. Meeting Ishani Nigam online and being asked to be her guest on a podcast show was a treat. She kindly shared a one-minute story from our conversation, which may make you laugh heartily. It is also reminiscent of how my sales efforts typically took place. May you enjoy the sample!

My Story

Although I was the center of attraction in an unwelcoming way during my formative years, I’m fortunate to have had wise words continually repeated to me: ‘You can achieve anything you desire, with the determination to do so.’ 

The repetitiveness got to me in a way that I began to wonder if that was true. I needed to spend alone time figuring out how to accomplish what I desired and not waste time being among all the naysayers.

Mindset

Upon setting out to prove I can achieve what I put my mind and effort into earning, I wondered why more people did not take similar actions. As time passed, I realized one showstopper was the fear of leaving current connections behind to focus on efforts and find new friends. Most believed it was their destiny to remain in their comfort circle of so-called friends.

However, my next question is: How can people be called friends if they hold one another back? Digging deeper, is it worth foregoing ambition on behalf of these friends? 

Questions

After hearing each negative sentence, I would ask, ‘Why are you saying that?’ Not only was it annoying, but I needed to know if I was doing something profoundly wrong or merely surprising to others in a way that they felt challenged. 

Questions became my golden habit as they advanced the habit of doing the same with prospective clients and collaborative-minded entrepreneurs. Answers came pouring forth, and so did business opportunities – all attributable to authentic branding.

Your Story

The first step is to admit what may be holding you back, including negativity directed at you and the fear of failing. Next, commit to testing the waters as you might surf the tide to a new destination!

Upon arriving at the new shore, drown out the fear to embrace enthusiasm for your new adventures. Jot down all previously dismissed ideas to decide whether they are current and may perform well. One by one, test each to see which new road will serve you best.

Upon proceeding and meeting new acquaintances, build Relationships with those who applaud your ideas and whom you admire in return. Journeying together with others helps to turn the tide in your favor plus will emphasize your authentic brand. Ultimately, you will experience growth never before anticipated and the desire to continue will be yours.

We can achieve anything we desire, but only when we put our heart, mind, and concentrated effort into making it happen. Negative people will hold us back, but when we strive to achieve our desires and seek out those who think positively, we can achieve more than we ever imagined.
