Attract the Right Job Or Clientele:
Do You Welcome Obstacles to Overcome?
Advising someone to be fearless is easy. However, with the many obstacles we each face, it becomes necessary to step up to the fact they will not fade away but instead continue. The dilemma begins if we give up; nothing resolves, but if we continue, it may be a highly challenging road ahead.
It was a privilege to be a guest on the podcast, ‘Show Up As A Leader,’ hosted by Rosie Ward and her team, Lisa Rosemeyer and Stephanie Hicks. We shared some of our worst experiences and the lessons we learned to boost our careers and lives forward. Feeling sorry for ourselves accomplishes little, but when we are willing to dig deep to comprehend ‘what just happened fully,’ we can take those learning points and use them to advance.

Authentic Relationships Are Essential
Whether spending time with clientele, personal friends, or peers, it is vital that people accept us for who we are and that we do the same for them. Not every conversation will be perfect, but the relationships that last are with those who strive to uncover where our differences stand to discover similarities and meeting points halfway. Underlying all of it is to share similar priorities and values, avoiding unnecessary conflict.
Take the Challenge!
Maintaining authenticity and accomplishing our desires depends on our willingness to take the challenge! Upon hearing rejection or hostile remarks, examine the reasoning behind it from multiple angles. Realize the pros and cons of the negativity and then ask to discuss the possibilities to uncover a solution. However, when the negativity is far from kind, walk away as quickly as possible to explore the pros and cons of what was said, move your ideas up a notch, and then strive to prove that they will work.
NOTE: The first person to prove yourself to is YOU!
Psychological Challenge
Psychological challenges occur due to the frequency of having our ideas belittled or the need for more inclusivity among teams. Feeling sorry for ourselves over time accomplishes little and often encourages people to quit and most often leads to regret over time. We must pick ourselves up and dust off the spew to rise above in multiple ways.
Truthfully, many times over, the thought of quitting may come to mind, but with practice, we move past it. Below are suggestions on ways to handle challenges:
Lead by Example
Most of us never foresee ourselves as leaders due to ongoing bullying, particularly in the corporate environment. By reviewing each obstacle daily to realize how to turn the bad into good, we can not only take the challenge but convert the worst into a game. The unwanted words and experiences are our challenge to prove them wrong and our efforts worthy of our time.
Although many of us may not lead as corporate executives, we do lead on a different level by sharing experiences as learning points for all those willing to listen and apply them.
Quitting or giving in to someone else never accomplishes much, but being stubborn and aiming for what you want to achieve can be your differentiator. The young leaders we see today, such as Greta Thornburg or Malala Yousafzai
A Google search reveals that Malala Yousafzai is the world’s youngest Nobel Prize laureate at 17. Greta Thunberg is an environmental activist, beginning at age 15, known for challenging world leaders to take immediate action for climate change mitigation.!

In Conclusion: Welcome Obstacles to Overcome
We each have it within us to lead regardless of pay grade, situation, or age. The question is, will we welcome obstacles to overcome?
