Attract the Right Job Or Clientele:
Are You Content with Business?
One word can change an entire meaning of a sentence. Being content typically translates to a lack of motivation to continue testing and attempting new strategies and believing that everything is ‘good enough.’ Should we allow ourselves to get into the mode of being content with business, typically, things will stagnate, and soon afterward, business declines.
On the other hand, if we swap out the word ‘content’ with ‘happy,’ aka ‘Are you happy with business?’ The one word, happy, will likely bring honesty to the table and our mindset, ultimately driving motivation.
My Story
Yesterday’s game-playing experience brings today’s blog story to mind. The two teams were playing a relatively enjoyable card game. Given one of the teams was close to winning, they asked if we wanted to concede. My partners immediately replied, ‘Yes!’ and I was horrified.
Early on, I learned you never give up but continue trying because we never know the next card or business play. Giving up is always the easiest but the least satisfying route. At the very worst, when we do our best and make every effort possible to win, no matter the situation, we can relax afterward, knowing we did all we could. For business, the halts often guide us in a new direction and ultimately for the better, whereas caving brings no further possibilities.
Similarly, with the rapid change of Technology, it will serve no one well to be content with business. What we know today may not apply tomorrow. The commitment to ongoing learning, research, trial, and error, plus the willingness to continue forging forward, is what builds:
- Momentum
- Opportunities
- Audience size
- Business Growth
The glorious moment is when we understand that despite all the awful predictions, we can continue on our unique path, work our way, and succeed! Each new challenge can prepare us for what is to be in the future. We can break barriers, mainly if we collaboratively try to overcome obstacles initially thought impossible. Accordingly, we must commit to going forth, no matter the challenge. One of the better motivators to continue is to look back at our starting point to realize how far we have come.
Yesterday’s story is also a reminder to seek collaborative partnerships with those with similar principles and values. Never be content because others say ‘you should’ or compromise how you work or who you are. It is the authenticity that empowers trust in you that will convert to additional business growth.
Your Story: Are You Content with Business?
Planning these celebratory occasions with our reality becomes necessary when celebrating a big win and treating ourselves to a special outing or time off. After a huge success, many people typically take an extended vacation from the typical time allotment from work. Most often, the time off leads to a sluggish return to business, raising the question, are you content? The stern answer of ‘no!’ will either lead to quitting or making a valiant effort for a comeback and then supersede where one left off.
Upon receiving a challenging question, it is always best to carve out time for deeper consideration of the ramifications from as many perspectives as possible. Doing so allows you to come to a deeper understanding and realization of the better way to proceed. Similarly, restructuring a business, applying new strategies, and potentially hiring staff or finding collaborative partners will help you remain on the road to ongoing success.
We celebrate our success, but when we can inspire others to earn their success, the meaning is far more robust, and the feeling of celebration is more exuberant. The determination with your unique reality in the mix and proper planning will keep you adequately engaged in experiencing further success.
In Conclusion: Are You Content with Business?
The extra step for consideration is in sharing what you learn along your journey for the betterment of your community or audience in their earlier stages. It becomes a Win for Many, and the internal celebration is the most satisfying!
