I Have a Dream

I Have A Dream &Raquo; Success Interviews Step Into Their Shoes Eileen

Tim Steinruck is a solo rock artist with 30+ years of music and performance experience. His soul awakened to a deep connection with a calling that entwines music, life, mystery, and a passion infused with purpose.

Through a teenager’s drive to push the limits, a journey into the world of music began. Elevating to an egoic high, with a slippery slope back down, Tim discovered his true nature in the calmness of mind, body, and spirit. Music became the thread that weaves all of life’s treasures grounding the messages of life’s meaning through the element of song.

Envision yourself on the same path as Tim, as we converse about his childhood, who inspires him, and how he got to where he is today. You will be inspired by his tenacity, courage, and drive to be a better person encouraging others and helping the world be a more exciting place to be.

Eileen: You have a very interesting and winding road life journey. Life began on a grain farm in northern British Columbia raised in a devout Mennonite community. Tell me what that was like and how this environment has molded you into the person you are today.

Tim:  We lived 40 miles from anything, but there was a little Mennonite church about ½ a mile from our house. It was the social hub where I learned music. I spent many hours there and it was the catalyst for me to learn to sing and harmonize.  My Dad was the organist and my mom taught Sunday school. Starting at 6 years old we performed at the church before the “fire and brimstone” Sunday sermon.  I played drums, bass, and acoustic guitar.  There was a turning point at age 13 when I brought an amp and electric rock guitar home. I wasn’t so welcome anymore LOL.

Eileen: I can only imagine what you did to stir the pot!! You were introduced to music at a young age. What do you believe was the spark that kept your interest in being a musician, which transitioned you to a new level after high school?

Tim: It was definitely when I got my first rock records. KISS, Nazareth, and Boston cracked open my music world. I fell in love. Unfortunately, I wasn’t allowed to play my guitar and amp in the house anymore so one day I had an idea. I decided to take my amp and guitar out to one of the metal grain silos. I ran 300 feet of extension cord from the chicken barn. I’ll never forget the moment when I plugged in, cranked the amp to 10, and hit my first chord. It was the sound of purpose. Eileen: Was it difficult to go from a Mennonite community to touring with a rock band? Please share about the struggles and successes that would be a part of your life Legacy.

Tim: I mean, I was just so focused on going all the way. To be like KISS or VanHalen. I ate and slept it. I left for Vancouver days after graduating and never looked back. It took me years to go back home. I became a prodigal son. I remember sitting at the front of the bus while traveling across Canada writing in my journal and feeling so very alive. I was fully living my purpose. This is what I was born for. I finally felt like I was home after years of loneliness and the feeling of not belonging. Rebelliousness and defiance were my superpowers. When I stepped on stage I experienced a power unlike any other and I quickly fell in love with it. The euphoria I felt was overwhelming much like the Lifestyle, and to be honest looking back there is much I don’t remember. It was a time of glamour and excess. A hedonistic dream shared with other bands experiencing the same opulence of the 80’s, along with the exotic dancers that were our girlfriends for the week.

Eileen: At what point did you discover the gift of being a songwriter? How has this impacted your connection with writing songs, music, and fans?

Tim: In 1989 we got a management and record deal with Paul Stanley of KISS that lasted about 6 years, but unfortunately the album was never finished. Then suddenly the music landscape changed. Grunge had arrived. By the time that band ended, I’d learned a lot about writing a great song and how to produce it. I rebounded from the dark days of Grief, loss, and anger by channeling it into songs. I had developed a much deeper relationship with creativity. Life has a way of helping bring Clarity to everything if we can find a way to be grateful for the lessons and gifts of our mistakes. I speak of what I know to anyone who will listen.

But the truth was that I was completely under the spell of my ego. I was living every day like an 80’s rockstar with all the excesses that came with it, though the truth was I was living a total fantasy. I made a lot of self-destructive choices at the time.

I eventually discovered high-impact aerobics and dove fully into physical Exercise, which was great for my mental state. I became an aerobics instructor to support my music career, which was great, even though I ended up practicing that to the extreme also, experiencing many injuries.

Then, I had a spiritual awakening, and everything changed. The fever of my ego trip was broken.

Eileen:  Ahhh, a spiritual awakening changes everything! Life may lead us down a road less traveled. You are walking a path as a trailblazer. What sets you apart from others?

Tim: I think it’s my perspective. I believe that now, more than ever, we need to look at life from more of a universal or cosmic perspective. Over the years I’ve aligned myself with teachers and communities who see things the same way. I know I was born into this place, in this time, for a reason. That feeling is my guide and an intuition that runs deep into my soul. I feel I am on purpose with music being the tool for teaching, inspiring, and helping others.

Eileen:  Who has inspired you to fulfill your life’s passion as a singer/songwriter? When was the moment you knew this person had given you the courage to reach for the best version of yourself?

Tim: It was Paul Stanley. His ability to write, produce, and perform is legendary. To be acknowledged by him was incredibly empowering. Being in the studio in East L.A. with him is something I will never forget. It was a game-changer. At this time, I knew there was nothing I could not do! He helped me see that I had a special gift; my unique brand of creativity.

Eileen:  Has there been a turning point in your life? If so, what would that be and please share the importance of this juncture and its impact on how you walk in the world today.

Tim: Yes, and it’s been recently I have had an important turning point. Everything changed for me on Dec 31, 2019. To put it simply, I found my Divine Self by releasing a part of me I no longer needed. A belief that was keeping me from truly living the life of my dreams.

That day I also decided to make the commitment to a four-step, DAILY morning discipline. I call it the four steps to becoming the Master Of My Reality.  It’s now been over 1500 days, and honestly, it’s changed my entire life.

Step 1: A short 7–10-minute burst of exercise to raise the heart rate and flood your body with serotonin, endorphins, oxytocin, and other feel-good natural antidepressants.

Step 2: Close your eyes and feel this energy. Feel deep for this life and your body. This Human Experience. Breathe deeply and consciously as your heart rate goes down for 5-10 minutes.

Step 3: Visualize your ultimate goal for yourself but experience it as “already done.” Experience the images, thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. For example, I have the visualization of receiving a Grammy Award.

It’s not a coincidence that I won 3 major awards at the ISSA’s Awards Ceremony (International Singer Songwriter Association) last year!

Step 4: Journal your thoughts from a place of knowing. Let your intuition speak in the moment. For me, it’s important to do it publicly usually on social media so that I might inspire someone else.

The key is to do it every day without fail. That is what will make you a master of your mind and therefore a Master Of Your Reality. If you fail, simply forgive yourself, restore integrity with yourself, and recommit.

I’ve sometimes completed my daily discipline just before midnight just to show my mind and ego who is boss. It’s powerful!

Eileen:  I love your discipline and 4-step ritual. Do you have a favorite quote? Why does it speak to you in such a profound way?

Tim: Yes. “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” Lao Tzu

It reminds me of the power of simply taking one step every day toward your goal.

Eileen:  You are not only a singer/songwriter, have your own band, The Mighty One, Owner and CEO at Begin Street Studios, President at Pearse Media Group, Head of Operations at BIG RECORDS, and Host/Co-producer & Director at RiseUptv, you are also a speaker, and certified Accelerated Evolution coach, who helps leaders and individuals remove negative emotional blocks and powerfully live their purpose. All of these combined are very powerful and empowering where people can be inspired by your dedication to helping others and bringing messages through your music. If you take a step back and observe Tim, what do you see and what is your hope for generations to come who will want to walk in your shoes?

Tim: I hope that eventually, everyone recognizes how incredibly powerful they are. I hope they realize, experience, and embrace their divine perfection. I believe we are all born that way, but we forget as we grow up.

Eileen:  What words of Wisdom would you like to pass on to those wanting to be authentic, and walk their own life journey in their passions, visions, and dreams with the desire to make this world a better place?

Tim: Do your inner work. Fall in love with yourself. Clean up the things that are blocking you from doing what your heart has been telling you to do. We all have that “voice” inside. It’s your life’s GPS and it works better and better the less time you spend in your head.
