Stay in a vintage camper in Weeki Wachee

Phil and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with a two-night stay at the Funky Flamingo camper, conveniently located just a five-minute drive from Weeki-Wachee Springs and right by Mud River. You may borrow kayaks on-site for as long as you like. We used them and had a great time. More about that in a different real soon. (Español abajo)

This quaint 1966 vintage camper offers a cozy setup featuring two single beds, roughly the size of camping cots, along with modern comforts like a mini-fridge, coffee pot, microwave, air conditioning, and a Fire TV equipped with Hulu plus live TV—providing a comfortable balance between rustic charm and modern amenities.

Outside, you’ll find a charming beach area with Adirondack chairs, a park-style charcoal grill, and an outdoor shower with hot water. The property also includes a restroom with basic facilities and grants access to the surrounding water.

Situated at Neptune’s Grotto within An Old Florida Adventure Retreat, the camper shares the outdoor facilities and dock, where guests may use available kayaks, with visitors staying at the main lodge.

While the camper is compact, offering limited interior space and standing room, it delivers a glorified camping experience complete with air conditioning, electricity, and television.

Priced at $60 per night before tax directly from their website (search and visit their website for more details), it is a more affordable option compared to booking through Airbnb. The retreat also features themed rooms, mainly decorated with mermaid and sea life motifs, for those preferring a more conventional stay.

Don’t forget to pack some bug spray to fully enjoy the beautiful mornings and evenings outdoors!

Ask me anything about our little camper experience. Would you stay here?
