In the HIP Senior Podcast, Marianne hosts Terri Mongait, the founder of Begin Again Coaching Strategies and owner of Begin Again Ranch, a six-acre property located in Sedalia, Colorado. The ranch, initially in California, was moved to its current location to provide a more private and personal environment to Mongait’s clients. The premise of her work involves equine Therapy, partnering with horses to facilitate breakthroughs for her clients in a safe, uninterrupted setting.
Terri’s clientele is diverse, ranging from business owners to couples struggling with communication or grappling with the “empty nest” syndrome. She explains that her clients often aren’t sure why they’re stuck in their personal or professional life. By partnering with horses, she helps them unravel their stories, identify what is holding them back, and guide them toward embracing their true selves.
Terri further highlights how her approach can also be beneficial for single individuals, particularly those dealing with significant life changes such as their children leaving home or going through a divorce. She explains the challenge of self-discovery and self-relationship as people transition from defined roles like being a parent or a spouse, to living alone. The goal is to help clients rediscover their identities before these life changes and to understand who they’re meant to be.
Lastly, Terri emphasizes the importance of understanding personal triggers and reactions. She uses the example of a seemingly innocent comment about a blouse triggering an intense reaction due to childhood experiences. Terri’s work with her clients and horses aims to address these deep-seated issues, understand their origins, and ultimately help her clients move forward with a better understanding of themselves.
