My Journey With PPPD, Anxiety, and the Power of Small, Consistent Actions
I was struggling with anxiety, dizziness, and a sense of hopelessness that felt like it was never going to go away.
As someone who has been fighting through Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD) and the weight of anxiety, I know how hard it can be to keep going, even when the world seems to move on without you. However, I also know that healing both physically and mentally is possible.
You’ve probably been told time and time again to meditate, Exercise, do Yoga, and take care of your mental health. But the truth is, hearing advice isn’t the same as doing it, as life gets in the way, and suddenly, the good habits you want to form are nowhere to be found.
Commitment to Healing and Serving
The challenge isn’t knowing what to do; it’s committing to doing it. Here’s why I care about mental health so much: I’ve lived through the struggle.
I understand what it feels like to be stuck in a cycle of physical discomfort and anxiety. I spent months (and even years) battling PPPD and the anxiety that came with it.
However, I found my way through by choosing to show up for myself, day by day, even when it felt like nothing was changing. And that’s what I want you to do; take small, consistent steps toward healing.
The Power of Small, Consistent Steps
You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to give 100% every day. Trying to do everything simultaneously can overwhelm you and make things more challenging.
The Daily 1% rule.
Do something small but consistent every single day. Whether it’s five minutes of Meditation, a gentle stretch, or simply taking a few deep breaths when anxiety starts creeping in. Over time, these tiny habits will add up; before you know it, they’ll become second nature.
Consistency is Critical
It’s the small things that will get you to where you want to be. Getting frustrated when you don’t see instant results is easy, but healing takes time. And every little step forward counts.
Prioritize Your Mental and Physical Health
Actions regarding your well-being are vital before you reach your breaking point. Making your mental and physical health your daily priority is critical. Yoga, meditation, and exercise aren’t just things people say because they sound nice; they work. But it’s not about doing them for an hour every day; it’s about finding something you can do consistently that fits into your Lifestyle.
Start Small with a Daily Routine.
Even five minutes of meditation, for example, works well. I know it sounds simple and sounds like advice you’ve heard before, but there’s a reason behind the frequency of hearing the same repeatedly.
- These small habits will make a big difference over time.
- Your body and mind are deeply connected.
- When you take care of your body, your mind will follow, and vice versa.
The 1% Approach to Healing
Here’s how I approach my healing process and how you can, too:
- Start Small:
You don’t have to jump into an intense workout or an hour of meditation. Just do one thing today—whether it’s stretching, a short walk, or breathing exercises. - Be Consistent:
Small actions add up. Don’t worry about doing everything perfectly; show up for yourself every day. Even 1% progress is still progress. - Forgive Yourself:
There will be days when you don’t feel like doing anything, and that’s okay. The key is not to let those days define you. Get back to it the next day. - Celebrate Your Wins:
Every little victory matters. Did you meditate for 5 minutes? Celebrate it. Did you walk for 10 minutes instead of nothing? Celebrate that, too. Progress is progress.
Why This Approach Will Make a Difference
I genuinely believe this approach will work for you because it’s worked for me. My healing journey wasn’t about doing everything at once but about committing to small, consistent actions that I could take every day. And that’s what helped me break free from the cycle of anxiety and dizziness.
Conclusion: How to Heal Mentally and Physically
If you’re struggling with your mental or physical health, remember this: small, consistent steps lead to significant changes.
Don’t let the pressure to be perfect hold you back. Start small, but keep going, and you’ll begin to see real progress over time. Moreover, the feeling of overcoming mental challenges can lead to your inner self shining brightly to achieve the desires you always dream about; it’s your time to see them come true.
