Dementia Caregiver – Protect Your Mental Health

  1. Dementia Caregiver - Protect Your Mental Health Jennifer Fink 47:50

Caring for a loved one with cognitive impairment is demanding and can take a toll on your own mental health. It’s essential to prioritize your well-being. Creyos is a new tool designed to help protect your mental health by providing a clear picture of your stress levels and coping mechanisms. By understanding your own needs, you can better support both yourself and your loved one. Early identification of caregiver stress allows for timely intervention and support, ensuring you’re equipped to handle the challenges ahead.

Creyos was officially founded in 2015 when world-renowned neuroscientist, Professor Adrian Owen met Marc Lipton, a business leader with a proven track record of driving success and innovation, with a personal passion for advancing healthcare’s approach to cognitive care.

Prof. Owen and Marc were excited about the opportunity to use Prof. Owen’s research and digitized cognitive tasks to transform how clinicians and researchers measured brain health.

Together, they assembled an experienced team of scientists, product designers and software architects to build the Creyos platform, helping to deliver scientifically-validated brain health insights to the healthcare community in a modern and accessible way.

After helping care for her grandmother who had vascular dementia, Jennifer realized her Mother was showing signs of early onset Alzheimer’s. After the death of her father in 2017 Jennifer went searching for answers to many of the common questions and Alzheimer’s caregiver faces. Being a busy entrepreneur Jennifer realized that a podcast would be the easiest way to learn more about caregiving while completing other tasks.

Sadly, in late 2017 she only found one and it didn’t quite address what she was looking for, so she did the next best thing, and started her own. The Fading Memories podcast is now in it’s fourth year and despite the death of her Mom in March 2020, Jennifer is still talking to caregivers and still learning how to be an excellent caregiver. On the podcast she discusses caregiving, brain health, self-care and how to age well.
