This guided meditation will help you explore anger and discover what it wants from you. Emotions are one way our unconscious tries to get us to explore something, turn it into an insight that would be useful right now, and prompt us to unfold into a future version of ourselves.
The idea for this guided meditation came from my work with a couple who wanted to increase intimacy in their relationship. After a joint session where things were shared that hadn't been shared before, individual follow-up sessions revealed some old anger and resentment that was sure to interfere with their desire for more intimacy.

Anger is a great emotion. It's juicy because its fiery nature means it wants to move, expand, spread, and transmute into something creative. The anger you decide to focus on could be fresh or from something old you've never been able to process or accept. Even if you don't think you're holding onto any anger, there is at least a little bit hiding somewhere in your unconscious. We start by noticing where in our body anger is hiding. After active imagination, we can explore the images to find a new insight, lens, or learning, followed by being open to where the metaphor is happening in our waking life.
