Charley Pride’s Son Brings Country Legacy to Australia

DION PRIDE carries on his family’s musical Legacy while forging his own path. With his remarkable talent as a songwriter and multi-talented instrumentalist, playing guitar, piano, drums, and bass, Dion has demonstrated his versatility in the world of music.

From a young age, Dion Pride displayed his musical prowess, taking the stage at just fourteen. His songwriting abilities were showcased when his father recorded Dion’scomposition, “I Miss My Home,” which featured on Charley Pride’s “Choices” album in 2011.

Initially, Dion played lead guitar and keyboards for his father’s performances, opening his shows for an impressive five years. However, as he began incorporating his own material into the sets, the audience’s enthusiastic response fueled his decision to venture out on his own musical journey.

Dion Pride is a dynamic and captivating singer who effortlessly connects with diverse crowds, leaving a lasting impression on audiences of all ages.

As the late CHARLEY PRIDE’s son, Dion Pride’s captivating performances have taken him across the globe, entertaining crowds of 10,000 or more in countries like England, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, and throughout the continental United States.

When asked about the most significant lesson he learned from his father, Dion wholeheartedly attributes it to "humbleness." This quality has become ingrained in him, as he maintains genuine enthusiasm and excitement for country music, a rarity in today’s industry. Despite his growing success, Dion remains humble, grateful, and committed to giving his fans the performance of a lifetime.

With his impressive musical abilities, sincere heart, and unwavering dedication, Dion Pride has carved out his own distinctive place in country music. From an early age, he displayed an innate talent for playing multiple instruments, and his decision to strike out on his own has proven to be a wise and rewarding choice. Dion continues to leave a lasting mark on the country music scene, captivating audiences with his soulful voice, authentic performances, and undeniable passion for his craft.

For the Australasian dates “Dion Pride Sings the Songs of his Father” Dion Pride is joined by original Charley Pride touring musicians including Ronnie Miller (Pedal Steel Guitar), Danny Hutchins (Piano/keys) and Mark Kalson (Fiddle)

Hello, I’m Sandy Kaye. A freelance broadcaster, journalist and producer who has spent more than 35 years on both sides of radio and television microphones. I’ve worked with every TV network in Australia, have produced and presented for countless radio stations around the country and have hosted my own commercial radio talk-back show. I’ve even held the distinction of being Sydney’s first female newsreader on radio – way back when!

Today my passion is A Breath of Fresh Air which allows me to immerse myself in one of my favourite things – music. I just love all kinds of music and am fascinated by the people who make it. In particular, it’s the music of the '60s '70s and '80s that takes me back to my youth and means so much to me.

As a journalist, I’m all about digging deep into the classic hits of our time.
I bring you intimate, warm, fireside chats with the artists who tell us about their lives both then and now.
We learn about what makes them tick, who they are in their professional and private lives and how they went about making the soundtrack to our lives.

'A Breath of Fresh Air’ is exceptional - exceptional not because of me, but rather because of the stories that some of the best-known musical artists choose to share with me.

I created this podcast to honour them. It’s all about THEIR lives, THEIR stories, THEIR music, told now, in THEIR voices, before they’re lost forever.

I see my podcast as a personal labour of love, but also as an archival legacy for music fans and practitioners alike, both current and future, who otherwise might never know of the amazing people who helped build the industry.

I really hope you enjoy each and every episode of A Breath of Fresh Air.
