Hit a wall?
Then something has to change.
But change is hard, right? It’s scary.
Believe me, I get it. The unknown can be really intimidating. But ask yourself—if nothing changes, what happens? Do you stay stuck and miserable?
What if there was a way out? A path that might, just might, lead you out of that dark forest you’ve found yourself in?
For a moment, forget everything happening in the world right now. Yes, I think we can all agree it’s overwhelming. But I want you to focus on something far more important.
You.
Your life. Your family.
So what do you want…

For. All. Of. Us.
For me, unplugging has become non-negotiable—right up there with coffee and sleep. Between caring for Ron (who was in a nasty car accident last Christmas but will be fine), my work, and my family, it feels like someone added extra hours to my day without telling me.
So, how do I unplug? It’s a work in progress, but I do my best to step away a few times a day.Morning Escape: I wake up an hour early to steal some time for myself before the world starts making demands. I sit in the sunroom with a steaming cup of co…

Although I’m home now, the last four weeks have taken me to a place where the December newsletter never made it.
It’s a world between worlds. Present, but not quite.
It’s the in-between.
Where was I, you ask?
The hospital. Sitting at my husband Ron’s bedside.
Ron was in a horrible car accident, hit from behind. He broke his back, his arm, and four ribs. He’s going to recover, but it’s going to take time.
The hospital is a unique place. It exists in the world, yet apart from it. Your entire focus becomes the patient in the bed. The world outside fades into …

What kind of pain are you in right now?It feels like your life is a GPS that keeps saying, “Recalculating…”
Maybe your relationships are struggling.
Your finances could use some serious help. So, what’s the way out of this mess?
Forgiveness.
Stay with me here.
You know you should forgive the people in your life, but you just don’t want to. The pain is too real. They don’t deserve forgiveness, right?
And besides, you were taught that forgiving means giving in—like you’re saying they were right all along.
But what if there’s another way?
What if for…

It doesn’t matter.
Why?

No?
Then don’t worry about it.
Constantly thinking about the past, and/or worrying about the future, can stop you from enjoying the good things happening in your life right now.
I’m a breast cancer survivor, and I learned this lesson when going through treatment for this horrible disease. I couldn’t control the fact that I got cancer, but I sure could control how I got through it.

What exactly does it mean when people say “I need to get a life.”
Does it mean they’re too busy? Don’t have enough money? Want to get into a relationship?
Actually it’s none of the above.
It means they want to experience more joy.
Happiness is a moment.
Joy is a way of living.
Joy is something you feel deep inside of yourself. External circumstances cannot change it.
So how do you get to joy?
Practicing forgiveness and tossing the anger is one way. Another way is to live in the moment.
BE in the moment.
Okay, you might be thinking, So how exactly do I do tha…

Ever hear a voice in your mind that tells you something that saves your life? (This has happened to me 3 times, not that I am counting.)
Ever “see” something in your mind and it came true? Or perhaps you see things around you that other people don’t. You just don’t say anything because people might think you’re crazy right?
(You’re not crazy by the way.)
Many people around the world hear, see, or feel something dee…

Have you ever used glitter? It gets everywhere! Weeks later, you’re still finding it all over the room where you used it, even after vacuuming three times. It gets on your skin, your clothes, your hair.
Glitter is messy.
Anger is also messy.
Just like glitter, anger can be hard to contain once it’s released. Plus, it can affect everyone nearby, much like how glitter seems to get everywhere and sticks to everything it touches. And just like glitter, anger and hate are easily spread and hard to clean up once released.
Anger gets stuck in your body and keeps the ener…

We all watch television. Some more than others of course, but at some point, we all do. That means that we also watch the commercials! While it’s possible to fast forward through them in a recording, eventually you’ll have to sit through a set of them. As we stare at the screen, we’re bombarded by impossibly pretty people happily telling us about something great that we need to buy.
All good right?
Not exactly.
Have you REALLY looked at them?
Ron and I were watching television the other night and I noticed a commercial that struck me as REALLY negative. In fact,…

The other day I noticed my husband was talking on the phone in the family room. Since I had just made a pot of coffee, I brought him a cup. Did he ask me to do it? No. But the gesture, as small as it was, brought a huge smile to his face. He also does the same thing for me and often surprises me by bringing home my favorite coffee from Starbucks.
We also thank each other for making dinner, doing the dishes, and countless other ta…

Have you heard the saying “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger?”
I’ve been throwing that line around as a joke for quite some time. If it holds true, I should have the mental fortitude of a truck by now, right?
But this morning, I stumbled upon that same line in a social media post, and it got me thinking. Sometimes what doesn’t kill you can leave you hurt and traumatized. You’re not dead, but you’re in pain and suffering.
So here’s my new thought about it.
It’s like a shattered vase. You slowly put it back together with glue one piece at a time…

How often do you should yourself?I should clean my house.
I should lose weight.
I should exercise.
I should work harder.
I should read Katharine’s new book (LOL.)The problem with that word is that it implies that you are obligated to do it. It’s the right thing to do.
It also implies the follow-up thought that if you don’t then you’re a failure.
Or money won’t flow.
Or you won’t get healthy.
Or you won’t be in a great relationship.
It’s a seriously negative word filled with shame and judgement if you don’t do it.
How about when you “should” o…
