Daily Looks: Week Ending 11.8.2024
I was talking with a friend who is coming out to visit from Boston. She was planning on bringing sleeveless dresses and sandals. And I sent her a photo of me in my sweater and beanie. Of course, we all “feel” temperature differently, but it’s been chilly here.
Friday wasn’t my favorite look but we all have an off day, right?
I think you would enjoy it if you signed up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Saturday
Today we were going to another landscaping class about succulents. Not the outfit you would imagine for such an event, but you’ll see this outfit soon on the blog.
Besides, as I always tell my husband, “I have cute clothes, so I might as well wear them.”
The tulle skirt was a sale item that I found on Valentine’s Day a couple of years ago.
I wanted to wear it with a belted blazer.
BTW, this belt is a steal from Valerie’s Avenue ($12) and comes in a couple of other colors too. Heck, you get a discount too–JODIE15 so make sure to save some Money.
The blouse was made by my mom and I’ve worn it years ago.
And these boots are a favorite even though they are scuffed and wearing out.
Sunday
We were off to the Fairytale Tea today which is a fundraising event for an amazing organization that helps mothers with Cancer. Our table was themed with Beauty and the Beast and we were to wear red.
I had this dress chosen to wear but the temperatures dipped which had me adding my lace Halftee (use code Jtouch20) as well as this brown dyed denim jacket with fur trim. (The fur wristbands are not attached, you can get them on Amazon, and let me tell you how warm they are!).
Because of the weather, I wore my tall snakeskin boots and added my pearl beret.
You can see in the top photo, I even added some brooches to the jacket before we left.
Insider detail: The pearl piece that is hanging onto the gold metal bar is a clip on earring. However, it wouldn’t stay put so I ended up putting it at the “v” of my dress.
Monday
We were off to try out a new Yoga/Pilates class today and instead of just wearing a ratty sweatshirt, I decided I should wear my new fair isle sweater that I finally finished this summer and shared in one of my emails.
If you aren’t a knitter, you may not realize how long knitting a sweater takes. It’s much slower than sewing, and this sweater was started and stopped many times over the last 6 years. BUT FINALLY it is finished (with a couple of changes since I made some mistakes as usual or as I like to say I made it my own LOL).
And my thinking was with all of the time and energy invested into this sweater, why wouldn’t I wear it instead of my sweatshirt?
It’s not like I’m going to be sweating in it. I’ll take it off when we get to class and then put it back on for our trip home.
It’s held together with a sweater pin? (I have no idea what it’s called but they used to be sold at the knitting shop).
I pulled on a beanie to keep warm and added my Jambu sneakers.
Tuesday
Today is Tai Chi, which means another pants outfit. I decided to copy the weather…both winter and summer in the same outfit.
The top portion offers summer vibes with bright colors and print mixing. The top is short sleeve with puff sleeves, but since the cardigan is drapey and big, it still works.
The bottom half is the winter vibe with faux leather leggings and black floral sneakers.
This cardigan is preloved–handed down to me by a friend and is two sizes big. But I used my sweater pins on the sleeves to fix that issue.
And I just tucked in a scarf to keep my neck warm. No secret trick…I just wrapped it around my neck and tucked the ends into my top. It made my DD girls a tad padded, but who cares, LOL.
Wednesday
This outfit started with this pink top from my rental clothing box. I hadn’t changed out my preferences from summer to fall so it came. Yet, I knew I could make it work for our cooler weather.
I layered a turtleneck under the pink top. That’s why everyone needs a bunch of turtlenecks for winter.
Then I wanted to wear this sparkly skirt from Just Be Youtiful also. I decided to pair the outfit with my print OTK boots and since they are darker, I added a dark sweater vest, earrings and a necklace.
I realize this type of sweater vest isn’t particularly trendy right now, but I found it for $1 and I like it. That’s the best reason to buy something.
Thursday
I have a Zoom call today and am meeting up with a couple of other bloggers, so it was the perfect opportunity to wear this dress from my clothing rental box. However, with the dip in temperatures, I needed a layering item, so I grabbed this white lace moto jacket I purchased from Just Be Youtiful.
The jacket comes with a self-belt with a buckle but I wanted to tie the belt behind me to keep the jacket open. So I grabbed a skinny scarf, used it through the belt loops and tied it in the back.
If you get my emails, you saw how it looked.
I wore my gold Mary Janes (which are half off through Monday).
Shockingly I kept the accessories to a minimum with gold statement earrings and a headband only.
Insider tip: The pink lace at the “v” is my bra peeking through. A great reason to have cute bras that match your clothing.
Friday
I’ll admit that this isn’t my favorite look. I need to analyze it more to figure out what I’d change, but since I’ll be taking it off to paint after lunch, I didn’t take the time to switch things out.
I wore these pants today for our dog training because we were asked to wear something that seems scary or makes noise. And these pants are somewhat noisemakers.
The layering is because dog training is outside and it will be less than 60 degrees during that time.
Can you see the 2 poms on my beanie? I found the beanie at Goodwill.
The scarf is wrapped and tucked into my shirt similar to Tuesday’s outfit…when I’m inside, I’ll take it off.
Thank you
